Naxals blasts bus near Police Station

Naxals of the People's War Group attacked the Mahadevpur Police Station in Karimnagar district in the early hours of the day. A powerful blast in an RTC bus made by them injured 10 people including a constable and wife of a constable. The RTC Bus was booked on a fake name and was hired by the naxals. After reaching a place called Suraram, the naxals forced the driver and conductor to take the bus to Rapallikota village. On reaching the area, they installed two explosives in the bus and later took the bus to Mahadevpur Police station and blasted the bus in the area of the police station.

Two CPI(ML) Naxals killed

Two naxals belonging to the CPI (ML) Prja Prathighatana were killed in an encounter near Andagula thanda in Chityal mandal of Warangal. The police being informed that the naxals were collecting money from beedi contractors rushed to the area. The naxals fired despite warnings from the police.

Visakhapatnam Port sets new record

Visakhapatnam Port Trust(VPT) has setup a new national record by handling 3.42 lakh tones of cargo on Thursday which is the highest handling by any major port on a single day in the country.

108 dies of severe temperatures

The number of people who lost their lives due to severe temperatures in Andhra Pradesh is 108 on Friday alone. 35 people in Guntur died. The list included Nellore with 25 people, Khammam 13, Krishna 12 and six each from Hyderabad, Chittor, Kurnool and five in Karimnagar.

President to visit Kuppam

Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam will be visiting Kuppam on June 7. He will be inaugurating Kuppam Medical College and will be interacting with the student community from Kuppam Engineering College.

Junior Colleges to reopen on June 9

The Board of Intermediate Studies, Andhra Pradesh decided to extend holidays till June 9 with heavy temperatures sweeping the regions. The Senior Intermediate classes thus will begin from June 9. Junior Intermediate classes are tentative to open on July 15 after the admission process is completed.
