TDP's Annual meet begins in Tirupati

The Annual TDP Party meeting - the Maha Nadu - began in Tirupati today. Earlier TDP Party President Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu hoisted the flag and declared the program open.

CLP Leaders Paada yaatra sees child laborers used in Governmen works

CLP Leader Dr. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy saw many children working as daily-wage laborers in Governmental works during his Praja Prathana paada yaatra that went through East Godavari district. He was told that money was not distributed in correct manner despite the Government stating that minimum-wages were implemented in the program. He him selves took agricultural equipment and took part in the work. He questioned the Government as to what action will it take and on whom in regard to the usage of child laborers.

He said that Government is making living difficult in the state difficult. Speaking on the hiked power tariffs, he said that the state is selling power to neighboring states and is indirectly increasing the cost of per unit consumed in the state. He restressed that free power could indeed be implemented. Giving on the figures, he said that the project will cost the state Rs. 300 Crores which is a mere amount compared to the publicity campaigns being undertaken by the Government which costs over Rs. 350 crores.

Hyderabad venue for BJP's meeting

Hyderabad is chosen as the center for the upcoming Bharateeya Janatha Party's convention to be held next month. State Functionaries Meeting to be held in Secunderabad on 29th will be presided by Sri LK Advani.

Asian-level IInd Athletic Grand Pre 2003 at Hyderabad

The Asian-level IInd Athletic Grand Pre 2003 events will begin in Hyderabad tomorrow at the Gachibowli Stadium. Track work at the stadium were completed. The athletic events will be held in 4 grounds. Asian Athletic Association Mr. Suresh Kalmadi will be visiting the meet. Rs. 1 crore was spent by the State Government for this prestigious events. Teams from all major Asian countries including Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Oman and Sri Lanka amongst others will be participating in the events. The Indian delegation with 48 members includes 3 athletes from Andhra Pradesh. Athletes from China and Japan are however away from the events on fear of SARS.

Telugu Self-Respect Awards presented

Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu paid tributes to former CM and founder of TDP N T Rama Rao on his birth anniversary. He gave Telugu Self-Respect Awards as as a part of the Nandi Theatre Festival and Telugu Official Language Day in Tirupati.

The 39th Death Anniversary of former Prime Minister Pt Jawaharlal Nehru was observed today. Sri Rosayya, Md Jaani, P Sudhakar and others paid tributes at a program held in Hyderabad
Hyderabad City Congress observed the death anniversary of Pt Nehru. Leaders garlanded the statue of Pt Nehru at Abids.
The High Court stayed the implementation of the persecution of Vijayawada Commission and Assistant Commissioner as per the recent order by the IIIrd Metropolitan Court. Justice Gopal Reddy issued the stay order in response to requests separately given by the two.
CI Mr. Shafi Ahmed who worked at Lalaguda Police Station earlier has been opted for a retirement after he was found to have interrogated a wrong person in regard to a women's death case.
State Human Rights Committee submitted its report recommending the Government to take action against police who involved in lockup deaths. The committee undertook suo moto custodial death cases held during September and November last year. As per Human Rights Act, the Government needs to pay the compensation within 3 months time. The committee is also digging into 12 more cases, the report of which will be submitted shortly.
Congress MP Mr. B Satyanarayana said it is inappropriate to name the venue of TDP's Mahanadu program as 'Srinivasa Pranganam' and doing so means dragging the name of Lord Venkateswara into politics.
5 Idols dating back to 18th Century made of Panchaloha costing around Rs. 24 Lakhs were recovered from six persons from a lodge in Warangal.
Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) Vice Chairman Mr. D Srinivasulu interacted with a team from American Consulate-General in Chennai in regard to installing of recycling waste water plant at VUDA Park in the city and Peda Cheruvu in Vizianagaram.
