4 dies in a road accident on NH7

4 people died in a road accident in Anantapur when a Lorry collided a DCM van from behind at National Highway 7. A few minutes later another lorry that came on the same road has hit the lorry. 2 died at Anantapur Public Hospital.

Women quota in Police Dept to be increased - says Home Minister

Home minister said that there will be an increase Women personnel in the Police Department. He promised of a special cell for quick delivery of compensation to widows of Police personnel who lost their lives fighting against social elements. Speaking at the Annual Meet of the Police Officers Association Meeting, he said that discussions about problems by lower level staff will be taken and the staff number will be increased. He said that a study will be undertaken and all non-financial commitments have to be checked first in a time bound manner.

Praja Prasthanam to restart shortly

CLP Leader Dr. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy decided to restarted his Praja Prasthanam paada yatra program as a three-member medical team that checked the health condition of the leader said he could recover in 3-4 days time. The medical team said that there is a drop in blood pressure and decrease in salt levels in body.

Street shows to create awareness on AIDS

A street show on creating awareness AIDS began in Hyderabad. The stage shows and dances will be undertaken by the troupe for 2 months moving from street to another in the district of Hyderabad. It may be recalled that Andhra Pradesh stands at the 5th slop in AIDS patients.

Pirated CD's in large numbers recovered

In a major drive by the Police Department, over 10,000 priated Compact Discs and Computers used to duplicate them were recovered from an inter-state who sells the CD's in Bangalore and Chennai as center. Joint Commissioner AK Khan said that a teams of Policemen raided various video library centers in the district and seized CD's of latest movies in the Tamil, Malyalam, Telugu and Hindi languages. Blue films were also in the list of recovered CD's.

Ban on Deendan Anjuman extended for 2 more years

State Government was informed by the Union of the extension of the ban on the religious group Deendan Anjuman for a further period of 2 years. The organization was banned for attacking on religious centers and distributing literature that could possibly create violence among the youth.

Counseling for EAMCET qualified from 27th May

Counseling sessions for candidates who qualified EAMCET 2003 will begin from May 27, 2003. Speaking with a local television channel, Vice-Chancellor and Convener EAMCET 2003 said that all arrangements for the smooth conduction of the counseling sessions were completed. Meanwhile, some of the newly established colleges in Engineering and Medical stream would not be ready to offer seats to students if they are lacking minimum facilities such as Laboratory, Library, Classes and other facilities as per the norms of AICTE. Sources at JNTU expressed hope that seats in all colleges including those in the rural areas will be filled.

Residential Athletics Camp begins

State-level Athletics Residential Camp began at Tirupati after 15 years. Special coaches from various disciplines were called to train the athletes here. The attendees asked for setting up camps such as these every year.

Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated a 2-day meeting of various Government Departments to discuss about developments in their circles. He said that grades will be introduced shortly. Speaking on the competition from neighboring states, he said that this would be a healthy one as it allows states to produce better quality products and services.
An RTC Bus has hit cyclists coming from the opposite direction killing all of them in Khammam. The dead were going to the local vegetable market to sell their produce. Driver of the bus was taken into custody.
Over 2 lakh candidates appeared for DIETCET Examination. 150 flying quads checked various examination centers.
