CLP leader says he'll resume Paada Yaatra program soon

CLP Leader Dr. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy said that his Paadayatra program will resume shortly despite Doctors asking him to take rest for 3 to 4 more days. Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu inquired about the health condition of YSR over phone. YSR attended to the death anniversary of Sri Rajiv Gandhi at Madhurapudi. He inaugurated a blood donation program.

Strike in Andhra Pradesh ends peacefully

The strike called by Trade Unions, Bank Unions and Left Parties supported by Congress ended up peacefully in the state. Supporters of Left Parties who called for the strike against globalization and privatisation were seen to be on roads early this morning but were happy as many of the shops were not opened. The very few busses that came to road were blocked from moving. Sri Suravaram Sudhakarareddy said that many of the shops voluntarily closed and that the strike was a success. Sri BV Raghulu said that Government has attempted to run busses when no passengers but were stopped voluntary after the drivers were asked to stop. Mild tension arose near Lakdikapul when police tried to stop demonstrators from forcefully closing shops. Congress supporters were found almost no where.

Bandaru says he will take State BJP President post if every one agrees

A press meet was organized to mark the 3 years tenure of Sri Chilakam Ramachandrareddy as the State BJP Party President. Union Ministers Sri Vidyasagar Rao and Bandaru Dattatreya also took part in the meet. Chilakam said that the party became strong with over 18 lakh members and 40,000 active members. He said that Youth and Minorities were getting attracted to the party. Sri Chilakam said that all District committees were also asking for a unanimous election of his successor. Union Minister for State for Railways Sri Bandaru Dattatreya said that he is ready to take up the post if unanimously elects him and that Central party also agrees upon. He said that he is not looking for the post personally and will take it if every one agrees.

There seems to be a wish list about who's going to be the next BJP President. Names of Pramod Mahajan, Uma Bharati, Vasundhara Raje and Raman Singh were apart from that of Bandaru Dattatraya were seems to be in the list. MP from Secunderabad, Mr. Dattatreya has strong support from the state unit of the party. Apart from coming from a backward community, Mr. Dattatreya's naming as the President of the party could add weight to the party during elections.

Staff of Insurance Corporations demonstrated at LIC Divisional Office in Hyderabad. They raised slogans against Union Government for not creating new job opportunities in the Insurance sector. Members of Railway Union also demonstrated during the lunch hour at Rail Nilayam at Secunderabad.
Police in large numbers were deployed to keep peacefulness in many parts of the state and to resist the strike.
Banks in Warangal were totally closed. Congress and CPM supporters staged a Raastha Rokho and stopped busses from moving. CPM supporters got good support from members of AITUC, DYFI and CITU in Tirupati. Shops were forcefully closed in Anantapur. Congress members rallied on Mahatma Gandhi Road in Vijayawada. Busses were stopped from moving.
Demonstrators took off air from vehicles that came on road in Kurnool. Train were stopped from moving on track in Guntur.
Buses of APSRTC moved normally in Karimnagar and Adilabad. The strike came out with mixed results in the region. Congress Leader Sri D Sridharbabu said that supporters of the party actively participated in the strike.

Death Anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi observed
State Congress Party observed death anniversary of former Prime Minister Mr. Rajiv Gandhi. PCC President garlanded the statue of the leader at Somajiguda. Sri K Aananda Rao, N Ranganayakulu and others were at the function. Tributes to the beloved leader was held at Gandhi Bhawan. A blood donation camp was held under the ages of Youth Congress. Hyderabad Congress Committee organized a food donation program at Bansilalpet.
