Apparel industry needs cut in excise duty - says CM
Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu said that the Textile industry has to be exempted from Excise duty in order to allow the industry to prepare for itself for Free trade by 2005. He said that the share of the apparel industry creates 6% employment for the country which is considerably less compared to the US. He took part in a program instituted by National Institute of Fashion Technology.
4 dies as tractor overturns
4 people including 13 year old girl died and 4 more injured when a tractor fell down near Mallugutta in Warangal. The people were returning to Chunchupalli. The injured were admitted to Etrurunagarm Hospital.
Cyclone centered at 460 Kms from Visakhapatnam
The Metrological office at Visakhapatnam said that Cyclone moving towards east and is centered at 460 Kms from Visakhapatnam. As a part of this moderate rains are expected in the areas of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and East and West Godavari districts.
2-day Telugu Desam Party Mini Mahanadu begins
The 2-day Telugu Desam Party Mini Mahanadu program began in Millenium Gardens in Secunderabad. Minister Sri B Gopala Krishna Reddy presided in the program largely attended by members and supporters of TDP and its affiliated unions. The meeting felt that Congress was unhappy at the development programs instituted by the TDP Party. A large cut-our of TDP Leader Chandrababu Naidu fell down. None were injured.
Janmabhoomi program - TDP supporters pet program - says YSR
CLP Leader Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that Janmabhoomi was the pet program for most TDP leaders as the program was benefiting TDP supporters more than to people. He visited East Godavari as a part of his Paadayatra Program and interacted with people in Devarapalli and Gopalapuram areas. He said that Food For Work program was not conducted well and has not come to the rescue of farmers even in this severe drought situation. He said that Polavaram project is not a recent request from Congress but was there even before.
Minister inaugurates facilities at Guntur Government Hospital
Health Minister Mr. K. Sivaprasada Rao said that the Government allocated Rs. 10 crores for creation of primary facilities in Hospitals. He inaugurated Pediatric and Biochemical laboratory at Guntur Government Hospital.
50 falls ill to polluted water in Tiruchanur
50 people fell ill drinking polluted water in Tiruchanur. The patients were admitted in Tirupathi and Tiruchanur Government Hospitals while admitted in private hospitals in Tirupathi. Water from the newly installed bore wells is believed to be the reason for the sudden illness. Medical authorities distributed Chlorine tablets.
Supporters of CPM began 48 hours picketing in Warangal. Over 1400 demonstrators were arrested by police when they tried to cause hindrance to the normal flow of work.
Minister Sri Nerelal Anjallu presided at the Mini-Mahanadu program in Nizamabad.
Funeral to B Srinuvasa Reddy who fought for the country and lost his life fighting against terrorists in Guntur.
