Leaders calls for creating awareness on HIV/AIDS
Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu and Leader of the Opposition Mr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy called for concerted drive for creating awareness on the scourage of HIV/AIDS. Both the leaders were participating in a State level policy conference on HIV/AIDS. Mr. Naidu said that the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in AP has fallen from 2.44 per cent in 1999 to 1.62 per cent in 2002. Speaker Ms. Pratibha Bharathi said the increase in AIDS cases was alarming with 14,000 new cases being reported every day in the world.
BJP Leader shows concern on inadequate measures in promoting Telugu Language
Mr. Kota Srinivasa Rao showed his concern on the inadequate measures by the Government in promoting the Telugu language in the school. He said that the days of teaching Vemana and Sumathi Satakas are gone and the mummy culture is fast spreading posing a danger to the mother tounge.
Former CPI(M) leaders dead
Former member of the CPI(M) Politburo, Lavu Bala Gangadhara Rao died at the NIMS in Hyderabad. He has been suffering from Parkinson's disease for the last 15 years and is survived by wife and one son.

Prof. Bobby Vardhan appointed Vice Prinicipal of AU College of Arts and Commerce
The Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication Mr. P. Bobby Vardhan was appointed as Assistant Principal of Andhra University College of Arts and Commerce.
The A.P. Pollution Control Board today denied permission to the Center for DNA Finger Printing and Diagnostics to set up a laboratory near Himayatsagar Lake in the outskirts of Hyderabad. The Permission was denied as a large number of chemicals and isotopes would be used in experiments, which would pose a threat to the lake.
