President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was in Hyderabad to take part in a program at IIIT. He said that high bandwidth connectivity is required for providing education to the rural parts of the country. Congratulating at the implementation of IT projects, he said that such projects needs to be implemented in the country. He launched the 'Reading aid for visually handicapped' software developed by IIIT and funded by Satyam Computers and 'Robotic and Interactive Surgery Technology development project' of IIIT and CARE Hospitals.

President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam said that it is high time for Indian scientists file for patents for Indian medicinal plants. He took part in the International Conference on Medicinal Plants in Hyderabad. Governor SS Barnala, former Prime Minister Mr. P V Narasimha Rao, Member of Planning Commission Mr. DN Tewari and others took part in the program.

Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu has called upon the Union Minister for External Affairs Mr. Yashwant Sinha in regard to the issue of ill-treatment of IT professions from India in Malaysia.

Medical Shops who are members of All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists will remain closed on March 25 representing their consent against VAT.
