Nellore to be renamed after Sri Potti Sriramulu
Government announced that Nellore will be renamed after Sri Potti Sriramulu. This was announced by the Chief Minister in the assembly. He suggested that no need for any controversy on this issue and also said that this move will remain in the history.
Discussion on Women issues in the Assembly
A 2 1/2 hr discussion is held in the assembly on various women issues. The female MLAs of almost all politicial parties took part in the discussion. Issues like Dowry, abuses etc. were discussed on the occasion.
The Opposition party introduced the topic on increase of reservation for women category. Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu proposed implementation of 33% reservation and said that it will be sent to the central Government. All parties other than Majlis agreed on this move.
Compensation demanded for farmers
The Government announced that Compensation will be provided to farmers who lost money by using the BT seeds. The Opposition parties introduced this topic in the assembly and said that it is the responsibility of the Government to test any new technology rigourosly before implementation. They alleged that the farmers lost a lot of amount by buying these new seeds.
Responding to this issue, Minister Vadde Shobanadeeswara Rao said that the Government will take appropriate action and provide compensation to farmers if required. The MLAs demanded that such companies should be abolished.
PCC President Mr. M Satyanarayana Rao suggested his rivals to try to strengthen the Congress party in the state instead of trying to remove him from his post.
Training programme for Election officials begins
The Training programme for Election officials began today. The programme is inaugurated by Mr. BB Tandan in Hyderabad.
Telephone exchange in Guntur blasted
Naxalites blasted a Telephone exchange in Palnadu region of Guntur district. They also killed a telecom operator. The building along with machinery is destroyed.
