Bus falls from Tirumala Ghat Road on its way down - 3 reported dead
An RTC bus fell from the Ghat Road in Tirumala at Mokala Ghatta. The bus fell off the hill this morning when on its way to the downhill. 3 were reported dead and many more were injured, 9 of whom are with a bad health condition. S Ameer - the driver of the bus jumped off the bus when the brakes did not work at the extreme second.
Off Ghat drivers of RTC busses not to be allowed to drive on Ghat roads
Minister Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy rushed to the hospital and enquired about the condition of the injured. Speaking with the press, he doubted at the Driver since some of the passengers who escaped from death in the accident reported at the bad behavior of the driver. The Minister also said that the Bus condition is well as it was on road for 1 lakh kilometers and that the bus has handbrake system.The Minister said that outstation drivers will not be allowed to drive on Ghat roads and that a decision to this effect will be taken shortly. He promised to take action on those responsible for the accident.
Rs. 1 Lakh ex-gratia to be given to the family of dead in the road accident
MD of APSRTC Mr. RP Singh who visited the injured at the Hospital said that Rs. 1 Lakh ex-gratia to the families of the dead and Rs. 5000 to those who were injured. RTC will be conducting an enquiry into the issue.
Deaths due to severe sun reaches 1085
State Relief Commissioner Mr. DC Rosayya said that the official death toll due to hot temperatures in the state is at 1085 death. He said that a letter was submitted by Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu to Deputy Prime Minister Mr L K Advani asking for 10 lakh tones of food grains under PM Development Fund since there was a delay in getting Monsoons to the state.
Police Training duration increased to 1 year
Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu said that the state Government will be introducing changes in the Police Department in a phased manner. He took official honor from a relieving batch who completed Police Sub Inspector Training Program. He said that the duration of the training program will be increased to 1 year from the existing 9 months. He asked Police to be more vigilant in wake of threats from Naxals and Militant groups. Home Minister Sri Devendar Goud asked the Police to show interest in programs that allow interaction with the people and get good remarks from them.
YSR's Praja Prasthanam reaches Lakshmipuram in Vizianagaram
CLP Leader Dr. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy said that it will take nearly 100 years for the State Government to complete the currently pending projects since sufficient funds were not being allocated which were necessary for timely completion of works. He said that over 21,000 crores was needed while only Rs. 365 crores was allocated. His second day in Vizianagaram's Praja Prasthanam stopped at Lakshmipuram where he observed that agriculture motors were getting bad due to lack of quality power. Speaking on dispute with neighbor Karnataka, he said that the Union Government and River Water Authority should help in solving Inter-State water disputes.
Naxals of the People's War Group attacked a group of Police personnel when they were trying to remove detonators installed in a road near Nallamalla forest.
PCC Secretary Mr K Rosaiah questioned today in Hyderabad as to why the Rs. 3600 crores Food-For-Work Program came to discussions in the Tirupati Mahanadu program.
A Lorry carrying 250 bags of rice allocated under Food For Work program was caught for illegally exporting to Karnataka near Ponganoor in Chitoor. The driver was arrested and Ponganoor police are investigating the case.
Supporters of Youth Congress in Tirupati blocked busses from Karnataka demanded the Karnataka Government to stop Paravodu project over Chitravathi River.
