More deaths reported due to mysterious viral fever
Warangal: July 17, 2003

The Government has release a bulletin stating that the number of cases as of July 17, 2003 reached the 119 figure. Health Minister Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said that the deaths could not be attributed to Encephalitis. The Minister says, malnutitition and seasonal diseases were the prime reason.

Karimanagar with 69 cases (with 45 reported deaths), Warangal with 84 cases(41 deaths), Nizamabad with 16 cases (10 deaths), Adilabad with 13 cases (3 deats), Krihsna with 11 cases (3 deaths), Nellore with 7 cases (3 deaths), Medak with 4 cases (4 deaths), Nalgonda with 7 cases (6 deaths), Mahabubnagar with 6 cases (4 cases).

The Government has begun distributing Chlorine Tablets in all suspicious areas. Karimanagar and Nalgonda districts were sent with 6 and 1.5 lakh tablets respectively.

The Minister said that experts from New Delhi and Bangalore will be studying the cause and bring about a solution to the disease. He supported doctors saying that they were trying their best in saving the children but since they were brought at the last minute, it is becoming difficult to analyse the condition and begin treatment.
