Partnership Summit 2003 concludes
The Partnership Summit 2003 concluded today. Union Finance Minister Mr. Jaswant Singh spoke on the closing speech. He said that the Government will consider Social Needs like creating employment, housing, tourism, electric sector etc. in the upcoming budget. He added that Infrastructure of both Physical and Social will be given importance. Mr. Singh said that India is potential of becoming the World's best tourist spot. Speaking on the concluding day, the CII said that the next Partnership Summit will also be held in Hyderabad. World Bank Chairman, Mr. Surchapai spoke in the morning

CM promises sites for the poor
Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu said that the Government will allocate 10 lakh Sites for house construction for people. Addressing a large gathering in a gram Sabha, he said that development activities came to a stand in naxal areas. Chief Minister suspended Jalauddin immediately after receiving complaints on him by the public. He called upon the Naxals to leave Naxalism and join the people in the society.

Singareni Colleries Management asks employees not to go for strike
The Management of the Singareni Colleries requested the employees to withdraw their stike proposal and join the duties. Speaking to the press, the Management requested the employees to put their efforts and enable the company to achieve profits. He further iterated that there is no proposal to privatise the Company.

The Congress Party held a rally in Hyderabad demanding the Government to bring water to the state. APCC President M Satyanarayana Rao, Sudhakar Reddy and others took part in the rally. Police took some people into custody when they crossed the limits. Women in the city joined in the rally with empty pots.

The Hindu Majdoor Sabha opposed privatisation and globalisation policies of the Government. They held a protest at the Hyderabad Collectorate and said that these policies has a immense effect on the people.

Minister for Forests, Mr. Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu said that the Government is preparing an action plan to meet the drinking water needs of the city during the coming summer. Addressing a large gathering at a gram Sabha in Visakhapatnam, he said that the State was facing a severe drought and that contingency plans will be implemented.

Health Minister Dr. C Kodela Sivaprasad took part in development programs as a part of the 18th Janmabhoomi program at Guntur. He also inaugurated drinking water facility.

UGC Committee visits new campus site of Andhra University
The UGC Committee which visited Andhra University had a look at the proposed east campus of Andhra University at Nagarampalem, Madhurawada in Visakhapatnam. The team was conducted around the site by the Vice-Chancellor Y.C. Simhadri
