100 trade union members and leaders of Singareni Collieries arrested
Over 100 Trade union leaders were arrested this morning when they began to demonstrate against the Singareni Collieries Management not bringing out a good solution to the demands of the Unions. However the Management of Singareni Collieries said that they are not responsible for these arrests. KV Rao, CGM of Singareni Collieries said that they are not responsible for these arrests in any way. The Union leaders said that the protest will be increased if they don't get the problem solved.

Over 200 employees were taken into custody. Union leaders also tried to stop Employees who decided to go to work at the Coal mines. Some Congress supporters were also among those who were arrested. The State Communist and Congress along with other Trade Unions were actively supporting for the cause of the Singareni Collieries Unions member's demands. Representatives of the Unions questions as to how discussions with go when their leaders were arrested.

CPM State Committee said that they were considering to stage demonstrations In various parts of the state on February 2-3, 2003 protest sting the problems of employees of Singareni Collieries as well as on the recent proposal of yet another hike in Increased bus ticket charges.

New Blood banks in state
The State Government has decided to setup 6 new blood banks in the state. Governor Sri Surjit Singh Barnala, Minister Mr. K Sivaprasada Rao and Cine-Star Chiranjeevi took part in a workshop organised in Hyderabad.

CM inaugurates Bio Technology Invest 2003
Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu said that the State Government will take all possible steps to see that Bio Technology is given enough importance. He promised of setting up the necessary infrastructure inaugurating Bio Technology Invest 2003 meet that began today at Hyderabad. He said that Bio technology parks will be setup in Tirupati, Visakhapatnam and other major areas besides setting up of Institute of Excellence in Biology and Bio-Technology will be setup in Hyderabad.

TTD sets Rs. 60 crores for development activities
The Administrative department of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam has decided to spend about Rs. 60 crores for various development activities. The amount will be spent in the next 5 years. The developments include improvement of cottages.

The People's War Group attempted a robbery at State Bank of Hyderabad in Jaipur mandal of Bheemaram. The Naxalites said that they robbed the bank for the collection of Party fund.

Senior Congress Leader Sri D. Satyanarayana in Srikakulam demanded that committees are to be formed to develop the backward people.

The Railway Standing Committee under the chairmanship of MP and TDPP Leader Mr. Yerram Naidu verified the facilities at the Tekkali Railway station. He also enquired about the problems at the Railway station.

The Science and Technology exhibition concluded today in Warangal.

The AICC SC/ST Committee released the list of selected congress workers for the APCC SC/ST committee in Hyderabad.
