Bundh observed in Visakhapatnam
The Visakha Bundh called by Congress was found with mixed results in Visakhapatnam. The Bundh was called for demanding for Godavari river water to Visakhapatnam. Many commercial establishments and banks remained closed. APSRTC Busses were put at depots as a precaution. With even Auto's not moving on roads, people found it difficult to move. Students took a holiday. Police arrested many supporters to keep violence on hold.

Budget depicts loans - not growth - says Opposition parties
Pradesh Congress Party Secretary Sri K Rosayya party said that the upcoming Budget clearly showed by that the State was in deep financial problems and was taking loans but failed to depict how the money can be utilized property and promise 100% growth in any sector. He said that the budget estimate was at a very high level and that revised estimate is expected much higher.

BJLP Leader Sri K Intrasena Reddy said that the pre-budget report clearly showed that there was a growth in income and Central funding yet loans were also increasing.

Strike in Singareni Collieries reached to second day with many Union members not going to their duties at the coal mines. It may be recalled that the Unions were demeaning on the Surface Miner Contract. However some members from the TNTUC came to their works.

Charminar to get Dynamic Lighting System soon
Tourism Minister Mr. T Srinivasa Yadav said that the State Government is taking all care to promote tourism in the state. He said that with the programs being taken in the last year, the state won 6 of the 14 National Awards being awarded by the Central Government. He said that Charminar Dynamic Lighting System will be setup and cultural programs will be organized to mark the National Tourism Day on January 25, 2003. He said that special tour packages will be started.

Minister Mr. B V Mohan Reddy released the revised 2020 HUDA Master-plan of Hyderabad. The Master plan will be finalized after a month long of public discussion. He verified the works at the Safiguda and Saroor Nagar Water purification system

National Symposium on future challenges on Tobacco farmers begins
A National Symposium on Future challenges on Tobacco farmers in the Country began at Guntur. Union Minister of State for Railways Sri Bandaru Dattatreya inaugurated the symposium which was attended by various Ministers. Former Chief Minister Sri N Janardhan Reddy also spoke at the program.

Special Security Advisor Mr. Subrahmanyam felt the need for additional security and better pilgrim services at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati. He said that this will be informed to both the State and Central Governments.

Agency farmers from various agency areas asked the Government to bring a solution to their problems. They blocked the main road at Eturunagaram in Warangal which brought traffic to a stand still for 3 hours.

Inter-Polytechnics Sports meet begins
Inter-Polytechnics Sports meet 2002 began at Visakhapatnam Polytechnic. Various Polytechnic colleges in the Andhra University area were taking part in the meet. Inter-Polytechnic games of colleges of Sri Venkateswara University began at Anantapur.

CPM demonstrated against the Government for privatizing the works of DISCOM in Tirupati. Police arrested some demonstrators when they tried to enter in to the office of the Corporation.

Tyagaraja Aaradhanotsavams began at Hyderabad today. Various cultural programs were organised on the occasion.
