People of Andhra Pradesh celebrated the festival of farmers - Sankranti - which marks the income of the crop. The severe drought situation however left the farmers off the celebrations.

Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam to get water from Sadasiva Reservoir
Minister Sri Bojjala Goplakrishnareddy met today with Chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Mr. Chalapathi Rao and the TTD Board and discussed about getting water to the regular needs. He promised that water from Sadasiva Reservoir will be brought.

Oil companies have to concentrate on rural areas
Minister for Public Distribution Mr. C Mutyam Reddy, inaugurating Fuel Conservation Fortnight, said that Rural and Agriculture areas of the state needs more fuel and that oil distribution companies were not concentrating this area but looking at towns as business centers. Managing Director of APSRTC Mr. R P Singh reminded that the Railways and Bus sector are the largest public transporters and that their fuel consumption is carefully planned yet the taxation policy was unfair towards them.

CM says recovery of debts will help Charminar Bank
Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu and today discussed with his Ministerial team and later talked to the Governor of Reserve Bank of India over telephone so as to come to the rescue of Charminar Bank. He suggested that recovery of debts will come to the rescue of the bank and that the necessary documents will be sent to the RBI in a couple of days.

Budget not up to expectations - says Congress and CPI
Congress and CPI parties have criticize the Government plan to frame the State Budget was not as per the expectations of the people. They claimed that Government has totally ignored the importance of budgetary allocations to the irrigation sector.

PCC asks Govt. to stop loan recoveries from farmers for the time being
Pradesh Congress Committee Secretary Mr. Rosayya asked the Government to immediate stop recovery of loan money from farmers. He demonstrated at Guntur today and said that he will be meeting the Collector and ask to extend his help to the farmers.
