Second Phase of Pulse Polio Programme successful
The Second Phase of the Pulse Polio programme began today. Governor Sri Surjit Singh Barnala inaugurated the programme in Pool Bagh at Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion, he said that private institutions should come forward and help to make this programme more helpful to the people. Minister Tammineni Sitaram inaugurated in the programme at Srikakulam. Polio stations have been setup on highways at Mahaboobnagar. Ministers Mr. BV Mohan Reddy and Prabhakar took part actively in the pulse polio programme at Kurnool. Good response from the people has been found in Guntur and Anantapur districts. The Government has setup Mobile stations to facilitate the passengers.

EAMCET exam dates will not clash with other exams - says EAMCET Convener
JNTUC said that EAMCET date has been fixed so that it doesn't clash with other competitive exams. Speaking at a meeting, the Vice-Chancellor of JNTUC, said that the number of questions has been reduced to 160 from 200 and that the questions will not be in a uniform manner. This makes the student be more careful in answering the questions.

Union Minister Sri Bandaru Dattatreya inaugurated the Razampet Railway station. He said that a special railway line will be installed between Razampeta of Cuddapah to Krishnapatanam in Nellore.

The Goddess Mary Festivals began in Vijayawada today. A large number of devotees took part in this 3rd famous church of the country. The APSRTC has arranged special buses to facilitate the devotees in their transportation.

Ganapathi Sachidanada Swami said that music heals diseases. He addressed a meeting held at Vijayawada and gave a list of musical themes that heals diseases. He also said that this is proved scientifically.

A Large number of explosive items including Detonators and Ammonium Hydrate has bee recovered from a person named Govinda Rao in Guntur.

Noted Singer Smt P Susila was felicitated in Vijayawada.

Tanasugarn takes WTA Indian Title
It was a day of victory for Tamarine Tanasugarn(THA) who won the final match of WTA Indian Open 2003 being held at the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Sporting Complex here in Hyderabad. In the final match, she beat Iroda Tulyaganova (UZB) 6-4, 6-4. Her victory came in 84 minutes play.
