A Workshop on the Draft Budget 2003 was held in Hyderabad. Experts from Financial institutions and Universities were called to give their opinion on the draft. The experts felt that subsidy and salaries are the main areas where care has to be taken in dealing with funds. To get a clear view on the expenditure, village are to be taken as a unit and sufficient analysis has to be done with the statistics.

4th Coke Oven Battery foundation stone layed

The foundation for 4th Coke Oven Battery was laid at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant by Union Minister for Steel Mr. Braj Kishore Tripathy. The Oven Battery will upgrade the capacity of the plant. The total cost for the project is expected to be at Rs. 300 Crores. Minister said that water from Godavari river is essential to make sure that the plant operates at its best capacities. He said that Rs. 250 Crores could be borne by the steel plant if the State Government comes forward for this. The Coke Oven project is expected to be completed in 3 years. He said that the Steel Plant was operating at its best and its Rs. 555 Crores income in the first few months of the year was impressive.


Assembly session to begin on Feb 17
Governor SS Barnala issued a notification that the Assembly Sessions begin on February 17, 2003 at 10 AM. The tenth session will open with a formal address by the Governor. The sessions will chiefly discuss about State Budget and will continue till the end of March.

EAMCET 2003 Exam on April 26, 2003
Minister for Technical Education Sri Narella Anjaneyulu announced that EAMCET 2003 examination will be conducted on April 26, 2003. For the fourth time, Jawajarlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad will be conducting the exams. Sale of applications will begin from February 14, 2003 and last date for submission of the same without any fine is March 4, 2003. Applications will be accepted at the Convener Office, JNTU with a fine after that date.

The 42nd State Level meetings of AISF began in Tirupati. Students ands delegates from round the country were participating in this meetings. Earlier a rally was held in the city.

Telangana Rastra Party staged a hunger strike opposite Warangal Collectorate in support to the Singareni Collieries Unions and asked the Government to bring a solution to the strike immediately. The Party supporters also demonstrated and blocked the roads in Hyderabad.

Supporters of CPM staged blocked roads Vijayawada at 5th National Highway against APSRTC fake hire.

State Health Minister Sri Kodela Sivaprasad inaugurated Intensive Care Unit at the Government Hospital in Anakapalle. Local MLA Sri Daadi Veerabharda Rao was present at the program.
