Discussion on Budget began at the State Legislature today.
Congress MLA Rednayak said that crimes including murders and lockup deaths were increased dramatically in the state in the past 2 years.
Minister V.V. Mohan Reddy said that Rs. 7 crores will be spent for construction of new school buildings in the state. However, Oppositions claimed that the facilities in schools were not satisfactory.
Home Minister Mr. Devendar Goud said that bullock carts and hand-pull carts will be banned on roads with heavy traffic in the state.
Minister Mr. Chikkala Ramachandra Rao said that more Co-Operative Banks will be setup in the state soon.
Congress demanded to waive off interest charges on the loans given to farmers.
The DSC which met today in Hyderabad released the schedule of the Assembly sessions. The Assembly sessions will be held till March 31 and 'Members day' will be celebrated on the final day of the Assembly sessions. A discussion on Drought is scheduled to be held on March 4. However, Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu and leader of the Opposition Mr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy didn't participate in the meeting.
Minister Mr. Manda Venkateswara Rao said that training will be given to applicants of Backlog posts. Speaking to the press, he said that the applicants should contact the DEO's. He said that Rs. 1000 will be given as stifund. The training will be for a period of 2 years. The Minister felt that this field education would be very helpful.
The CPM party staged protests in most parts of the State today demanding Government to implement drought relief measures.
In Rangareddy, the CPM workers protested near the Collectorate demanding Water for the district.
Former MLA of Kurnool Gafoor took part in the protest in Kurnool. CPM workers picketed near the Collectorate. The police arrested a few CPM workers at the incident.
In Vijayawada, the CPM party demanded the drought relief measures to be implemented immediately. Plays were performed on roads.
Police arrested hundreds of people who picketed near the Collectorate in Guntur. The arrested were released later.
In Warangal, CITU staged a protest near the Collectorate. Protest is being held in Nizamabad for about 3 hours.
The CPM and Congress held agitations separately in Tirupati. They said that the Government failed to provide drought relief measures. Women holding empty buckets were seen at the incident.
The 2 day meet of the State Electricity Board began in Tirupati today. Farmers, Political leaders took part and gave suggestions to the board.
The Scouts and Guides rally began in Warangal today. A large number of scouts and guides took part in the rally. They called the people to serve the country for its development.
The Forest Department at last took an Elephant into their custody. The elephant which escaped from Karnataka forests did a lot of damage to farms and even killed a farmer in Chitoor. The forest department took hold of the elephant after sending 4 trained elephants into the forest.
A delegation from TNTUC met Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu today and submitted a plea letter for a grant of Rs. 2000 to all employees who participated in the strike.
A Seminar on the recent changes in Companies Act is held in Hyderabad today.
The Volley Ball tournament of the Engineering Colleges concluded in Warangal today. KSRM College won the Finals.
The Veteran Tennis Tournament began today in Hyderabad. More than 275 players are participating in this tournament. The prize amount of the tournament is 2 Lakhs.
