Kollapur MLA Krishna Rao says TDP is supporting AP Transco authorities
Kollapur MLA Mr. J Krishna Rao said that he has proof that the AE has collector money from people. Mr. Krishna Rao spoke in the Assembly in regard to his arrest upon a complaint from the AE. He said that TDP is supporting AP Transco authorities for which TDP members denied. Congress members then went to the Dy Speaker podium and asked to allow their member to talk. Minister Sri Nagam Janaradha Reddy said that the MLA did not use bail even when he has a chance. At one stage, the Assembly saw clashes between Krishna Rao and TDP member Dayakar Reddy.

CM to lay foundation stone for Godavari river water project in Visakhapatnam
Minister Sri BV Mohan Reddy said that the Government is keen in getting river water to cities. He said that the project to get Godavari river waters to Visakhapatnam city is almost finalized and that the foundation stone for the same will be laid within 15 days time by Chief Minister. He said Rs 534 cores is need for the project and that Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation will be extending financial help.

Education programs for women working - says Minister
Minister for School Education Mr. Mandava Venkateswara Rao said that the literary programs aimed at driving up the literacy rate among women have been successful. He said that a survey will be conducted by an outside agency in regard to various programs being conducted by the Government.

Congress, today in Assembly, asked for a clarification in regard to the filling up of Radiologists and other specialists posts in Government hospitals. Replying to this, Minister for Medical, Health and Family Welfare Mr. Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said that a court approval is awaited in regard to promotion of Civil surgeons to Radiologists.

Division of constituencies to be completed by year end - says EC
The State Election Commission has held an all-party meeting in regard to the division of constituencies to form new constituencies. The Commission said that this process will be completed by the year-end. It said that an earlier meeting on this topic was held with District Collectors and that the division will be done on the basis of Geographical and population in the constituencies.

AP Transco not to hike power tariffs for 2003-2004
AP Transco and AP Discom said that it is not proposing for a hike in electricity tariff financial year 2003-2004 before the regulatory commission. Transco said that reduction in technical losses and control of theft and improper practices has been benefiting the corporation. Opposition parties who have attended for the public hearing said that this is a clear publicity stunt by the Government. Congress MLA Maisoora Reddy said that if it is possible to cut losses, why is it not possible for the corporation to decrease the charges.

A delegation of Godavari Jalaala Saadhana Samithi headed by Mr. Konathala Ramakrishna met Governor Surjit Singh Barnala and gave a memorandum asking the Government to immediately see that the water problems of the steel city are solved.

Lakhs of devotees are visiting the shrine and taking part in the Peddagatla Jaatara in Nalgonda district which is the biggest fair after the Sammakka-Sarakka Jaatara. The fair is organized one in every two years.

Auto drivers in Hyderabad took out a rally against attacks by RTC and harassments by Traffic police. They demanded that autos be allowed on the National Highway.

Anantapur District collector Rajasekhar and SP A Sinha visited Venkatampalli area in the district where Dalit members were being looked low by the upper caste people in the area. The District Collector advised the ZPTC member to bring a solution to this problem.

Social Reformer Medha Parker said that water and other natural resources are to be conserved. She spoke at a public meeting in Rajahmundry.

The Government said that it will hold a meeting on February 23, 2003 to discuss on various problems faced by Co-Operative Urban Banks and on implementation of reforms in the sector.

STU demonstates against Government
State Teachers Union staged a demonstration and raised slogans against the Government for not taking initiative in correcting mistakes in seniority list. They demanded that salaries to aided teachers be paid in time. The demonstrations were prominent in Anantapur, Warangal and Visakhapatnam.
