State Legislative Assembly Budget Sessions begins
The State Legislative Assembly met today at 10 AM to begin discussions on the State Budget for the year. The sessions began with the speech by Governor Sri Surjit Singh Barnala. The Governor, in his speech, highlighted that the severe drought situation is present in the state and that water conservation scheme has to be implemented from next year. Speaker Mrs. Prathiba Barathi, Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu, Cabinet Minister, CLP Leader Dr. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, BJLP Leader Mr. Indrasena Reddy, CPI and CPM leaders and members, MIM Leaders and MLA's attended the first day session.

Saving water is the only way to come out of drought - says Governor
He said that Micro Irrigation Plan aswell as a plan for effective utilization of river waters has to be undertaken. He said that the Government has highlighted over 26 new projects as a part of plans to get water for irrigation and that Rs. 1200 cores needs to be allocated towards this. He said that rain fall was 32% less compared to the previous year and that the crop area covered during the Kharif season was down from 82 Lakh hectors to 64 lakh. He said that Drip, Water wells and other means are needed. The target for collection of milk is set to 45 Lakh Liters.

The population growth rate is to be controlled at 0.7% by 2020. 5000 km road works with the help of World Bank assistance. He said that the state should get a 25% share of the counties production sector in five years time. He said that computer education has to be implemented in Ashram schools run by the Government. Reform are to be implemented in a phased manner in Government Departments.

Congress party members began their protest by displaying placards and standing all through the time the Governor was giving his speech.

Opposition parties reactions to Governor's opening speech
BJLP Leader Mr . Indrasena Reddy said that Governor's speech a copy of the previous speeches. He said that inaugural note was 'sour'. CLP Leader Dr. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy said that Governor's speech did not have a mention about Electricity bills and lack of water. TRS President Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao said that, it is visible that IT was losing its importance while Bio Technology was gaining momentum. TDP said that Governor has reflected the works of the Government and that drought situation is not just in our state but in entire country.

A young person named Santosh killed his lover Bhargavi after the parents of the girl denied to arrange a marriage with another boy and not to Santosh who was a tenant to them as he was managing a fast food center. After killing his lover, Santosh tried to kill himself but was out of death and was in Osmania Hospital struggling for life. This incident happened in Saroornagar area.
