65 new B.Ed Colleges in state
Minister Sri Mandava Venkateswara Rao said that counselling for over 63 new B.Ed colleges will be conducted at the earliest. He said that 53 of these colleges have already received clearance from NCVT and that other colleges are expected to get the same at the earliest. Each of these colleges will be having 100 seats. The Minister said that over 14,200 admissions were already made.

PCC and CLP asks Govt. to apology against action on MLA
Pradesh Congress Committee and Congress Legislature Party said that Government has to ask for an apology in regard to arrest of Kollapur MLA Krishna Rao who was arrested when he questioned an AE in regard to an issue few days ago. PCC President Sri M Satyanarayana Rao asked the Government to take a severe action against the AE.

Hyderabad gets delighted with Unity of Light
Hyderabad was a city of many special events - may it be on the Politics front, Information Technology, Sporting Events or for Musical concerts. The Unity of Light -World Tour 2003 was held featuring SP Balasubramayam, Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, Sukhwinder, Janaki Devi, Sadhana Sargam, Sreenivasan, Chitra, Unni Krishnan, Sujatha, Vasundhara and Mahalaxmi. The music for the concert was provided by A R Rahman. The concert was organized in aid of children with cancer. The Stage was built by the popular Mumbai Stage Designers and a new Aamerican Tannibal Lighting system was setup at the Gachibowli.

Youth Congress demonstrates for release of MLA Krishna Rao
Meanwhile, AP State Youth Congress supporters staged a demonstration at the State Legislature demanding for the release of the arrested MLA. They said that Chief Minister himself has publicly said that any one can question a Government employee if they are doing wrong. Mr. Venkatrao – President, AP Youth Congress and other supporters were arrested.

Rally against police action in Vijayawada
Left Parties and Congress staged a rally in Vijayawada against Police lathi charge on demonstrators yesterday. The rally began at Tummalapalem Kalakrsenthram and ended at the Lennin Center. It may be recalled that over 70 demonstrators were beaten by Police when they tried to meet Minister Mr. Vadde Sobhanadreswara Rao even when the Minister rejected to meet. Many leaders including those of the Congress and CPM were arrested. Today’s demonstration demanded for the release of those arrested.

CLP Leader Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy was in Tirupati listening to the problems of the people in the district. He visited Bommagunta hospital and enquired about the facilities provided at the Hospital to patients. The dissatisfied patients said that the Doctors themselves are asking to buy medicines from outside. He said that drinking water is provided once in every 8 days and this shows the state of affairs in the district.

The Krishna Mahotsav festivals that began in Vijayawada are receiving good response. The Tourism festival is an ambitious plan of the Department of Tourism to develop the belt as a tourist spot.

UNIFEST 2003 program was held at SVIMS University.

United Teachers Federation asked the Government to allocate more funds for the welfare of education in the state. They questioned at the fate of mid-day meal implementation since the allocate funds were a meager.
