Kollapur MLA Mr. J Krishna Rao arrested
Kollapur MLA Mr. J Krishna Rao (Congress) was arrested by the Police and was produced before Special Mobile Court Magistrate Mr. G Daivadeenam in Nagarkurnool. The MLA was arrested when a complaint was filed against him by a Asst. Engineer of AP Transco Mr. Qasim Saheb that he was abused and obstructed from doing his duties. The MLA did not agree to go to Hyderabad Jail but said he will be at the Mahaboobnagar jail with the limited facilities that a normal prisoner gets. Tension prevailed in both Kollapur and Nagarkurnool areas following a bundh.

The Opposition parties questioned as to why a special discount was given for the contractors of the Kakinada Port. Kotagiri Vidhyadhar Rao replied saying that the aim of the Government is to make the Port viable for operations and speed up economic activity. Some members of the house suggested for the appointment of an enquiry committee to look into this issue.

CLP Leader raised the issue of the promise of construction of houses. Replying to this, Chief Minister said that the construction of houses will be done as promised. The stated reason is that since recoveries are not on time, the construction of the houses were not completely successful.

Govt. exempts EAF to small temples
The Government of Andhra Pradesh announced major changes in its policy towards Temples and other Religious places in the state. As a part of the new reforms, more than 30,000 small temples are likely to be exempted from payment of Endowment Administration Fund (EAF). Any religious institution getting Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 50,000 per annum has to pay 12% of its proceedings to the EAF which is now exempted.

The Congress MLA J. Krishna Rao was produced before the mobile court Magistrate at Nagarkurnool. Krishna Rao was arrested on Tuesday night by the Police at Kollapur.

The Indo-American group of educational institutions in Visakhapatnam has setup a business school offering two-year MBA courses.
