Bandh partial in the state
The Bundh called by the Bharatiya Janata Party evoked mixed response. The Bundh is organised in protest against the 'jehadi' killings by the activists of the DJS. In the capital city, the bandh response was partial. Shops and establishments were closed in most parts of the city. The bandh was near total in Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Guntur, Kurnool, Cuddapah and Anantapur districts. However, the bundh was partial in the tense Old City of Hyderabad
Rs. 1200 crores to be spent on development activities
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the Government will allocate 1000 acres of land for drip irrigation for every mandal. He said that they will take the help of NABARD and will set targets for every mandal. He organised a Video Conference with District Collectors and discussed on various issues including Janmabhoomi programme, Work indicators etc. Chief Minister spent the whole day in the conference and verified the effect of drought in the state.
229 more e-Seva Centers in state
Principal Secretary to Information Technology Department Mr. J Satyanarayan asked the District Collectors to identify land and other resources for setting up E-Seva Centers in the state during the Video-Conference. He informed that the Government will be establishing as many as 229 more E-Seva Centers spread across the 117 Municipalities in the state during the next financial year.
Retreat 2002 concludes
Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu addressed at the valedictory function of Retreat 2002 of the Andhra Pradesh Police Academy in Hyderabad. He asked the Police Department to become a Knowledge organization and make use of information technology to simplify their activities. He also said that transparency is a must in any organization for its overall development. Home Minister Mr. T Devender Goud, Home Secretary Bharat Chandra, DGP P Ramulu and others were at the function.
Adilabad Police - the best - says CM
Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu, at the conclusion of the 2-day Retreat 2002 program said that an independent survey by an agency commissioned by him has found that Adilabad Police to be the most friendly police personnel. He said that their 'Police me Kosam' (Police For You) awareness programs and health camps were making them go closer to the people.
Congress Legislature Party Leader Y Rajasekhar Reddy organised a Gram Sabha in Nalgonda district.
Speaking on the occasion, he promised the people that Congress party will question the Government in the next assembly elections. He said that those People who don't work for the people should not form the Government. He criticized that the Government is neglecting the problematic issues.
The Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation has demanded an enquiry into the corruption in the Education department. President K. Jogaiah, Vice-President N. Narayana criticized the Government's failure to take action even after the organisation has complained.
Governor Mr. Surjit Singh Barnala and Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu greeted the Muslims on the occasion of Id-ul-Zuha. In a message released to the press, Governor Mr. Barnala said that this occasion reminds us of the need to foster peace and harmony among all.
