Hierarchical bound civic services for Andhra Pradesh
Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu said that the Andhra Pradesh Administration system has as many as 47 levels of bureaucracy from top to bottom and that decision making cannot be taken and implemented immediately in such a complex system. He said that a hierarchical bound civic services will be introduced.

Two naxals of the Janashakti group were killed in an encounter in Medak according to reports that reached Hyderabad. A combing operation by two police groups was taking place when six members of the naxal group were holding a meeting.

DMU train attacked by Naxals
Naxals of the banned People's War Group attacked the 238 Dn Visakhapatnam-Koraput DMU Passenger train near Vizianagaram. Over 20 naxals were involved in the operation. They took away two-way walkie talkies, 303 rifles and 100 rounds of ammunition.

Demolition of house constructions at Gopalapatnam
Gopalapatnam in Visakhapatnam saw the demolition works of houses that were constructed on the Thatipudi pipeline. Many of the houses were constructed with the permission of the Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation which gave permissions forgetting that a major pipeline that provides water to the city is below it.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs Vinod Khanna launched the ISO 9000:2001 Quality Manual of the Andhra Pradesh Regional Passport Office in Hyderabad. Also inaugurated are 8 accreditation counters at the office by Union Minister of State for Railways Bandaru Dattatreya.
