4 dies consuming spurious liquor in Guntur
3 people in Mangalagiri and another in Tadepalle in Guntur died consuming spurious liquor. District Collector Ramakrishna Rao announced ban of liquor in the town. SP Ravishankar Ayyannar and Excise Commissioner said that cheap liquor stocks was seized and were investigating the case. An enquiry was also called on the issue. Lack of control of syndicates was believed to be the reason for production and supply of spurious liquor.

CM organizes teleconferance to get latest status
Chief Minister who spoke with Guntur Excise and Police authorities via a teleconference from his home asked to take strickt action against any one involved in manufacture of spurious liquor. He said that the person who has served was also responsible and asked the Police to take necessary action and see that such incidents never occur.

3rd phase political training begins at NTR Bhawan
TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated 3rd phase of Political training program today from the party NTR Trust Bhawan. TDP workers from 114 constituencies participated in the program today broadcasted via Teja Television.

Addressing the party functionaries, he said that the Congress was politicizing social programs. He said that the Velugu program intended to give 2 lakh cycles because a cycle became a bare necessity but Congress was saying that the distribution was because it was the symbol of TDP. Local TDP leaders from Krishna did not participate in the program.

Speaking with the press, he said that the Congress has no specific target in its no-confidence motion against the NDA. He said that TDP did not support the NDA entirely and its playing its role.

Birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi observed
APCC President D Srinivas garlanded the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on the birth anniversary of the leader. Addressing the party members later at Gandhi Bhawan, he said that the party workers has to make sure that 30-35 parliament seats and 195 sets in assembly are won so that the party can be at center and at state. AP Youth Congress organized a rally. CLP Leader Dr. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy asked the party members to take the 9 points raised by Ms. Sonia Gandhi to the people.

Kurnool DCC President K Suryaprakha Reddy said that the state Government has failed in attending to pending projects. He said that the vision of Rajiv Gandhi to take Information Technology to rural areas became a pet note to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

A peace rally - "Run for the Nation" was held as a mark of Birth Anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi in Visakhapatnam. Supporters raised slogans "Rajiv Amar Rahe" all the way.

2 children dies a house collapses
2 children died when an old house collapsed suddenly in Hyderabad. 3 more were injured and were rushed to the hospital.

Rs. 1 Lakh ex-gratia to the familes who lost their children in bus accident
Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 1 Lakh to the family of those who lost their children. As per the Government-laid rules specially in regard to school busses, the bus driver needs to have 20 years of experience in driving. Children should have comfort in the bus. The metallic body of the bus should not be more than 4 years old. Government permits needs to be taken for school busses as well.

Students from Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswavidyalam actively have taken part in Vanamahotsav in Tirupati. The program was organized by TUDA.

Scientific study on road accidents needs to be taken up - says Home Minister
Home Minister Devendar Gowd said that a study on road accident has to be undertaken. He suggested to police that Government has go to the people. He reviewed the recent reforms and performance of Mythri in a video conference with SP's. He said that a scientific study on road accident has to be taken up. He said that necessary training has to be given by AP Police Academy on this. Mr. Kumawat reminded that the number of pending cases were increasing and that this needs to be control.

CM inaugurates rail projects
Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu laid the stone for Tirupati-Katpadi Railway line electrification project and doubling of Tirupati - Renigunta line. He also inaugurated DMU Train service between Tirupati - Katpadi. He said that the Chitoor Railway station will be modernized to make it into a model station. On promised is a Satellite station to the district. Union Minister of State for Railways Bandaru Dattatreya, General Manger of South Central Railways Stanley Babu and others were present at the programs.

2-day exhibition on Taiwan products opens
An exhibition of Taiwanese products organized by the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) in Hyderabad was inaugurated. The "Doing Business with Taiwan" seminar was attended by many. The exhibition will also be open on August 22,2003.
