Giant Size Ganesha made with Pepsi bottles - Thousand devotees throng to have darshan of unique Ganesha

Lord Ganesha is seen in many myriad forms and themes in the Ganesh Utsav. A unique Ganesha made up of bottles of soft beverages has come up here at Lal Bazaar near Alwal in Secunderabad. It has become a star attraction to the devotees in nearby places for the past couple of days. Installed by Shastry Nagar Friends Association, it has been coming out with Ganesha of unique themes for the past twenty years.

Designed by Mr. D. Rajesh employed in Indian Navy and his father-in-law Mr. Deepak, the 14 feet high idol is made up of 1151 bottles of Pepsi, Mirinda and Slice and innovatively accommodated these bottle in a bamboo structure. To add more glory to the idol, 1½ Kg silver is used for crown, chain and bracelets. All the bottles required in making the idol were sponsored by Pepsi.

The creative bottle Ganesha is attracting a lot of devotees. Nearly 4000 people have darshan of the idol every day. Even it had attracted some VIP devotees too, who include personalities like Mr. Sayanna, a local MLA; Mr. Gouri Shanker, Local Contonment Board Member and a BJP Leader Mr. Babu Rao. Be it curiosity or devotion, but everybody wanted to have the glimpse of Ganesh adoring, unique costume, bottles. The immersion of the idol is scheduled to take place on 20th September.
