DSC List to be released on Sep 28
Minister for Primary Education Mr. Madava Venkateswara Rao said that the list for DSC will be release on September 28 and that the counselling sessions will begin from September 29. He said that a detailed schedule will be released at a later date.

New norms for Food for Work program
The norms of the Food for Work program were being revised. The new GO (GO Rt No 4974 dt Sep 13) now says that the District Collectors have to issue administrative sanction with the prior approval of the Minister-in-charge of the district. This was told to the press by the Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu.

Union Minister makes surprise visit to hospital
Union Minister Mr. Bandaru Dattatreya made a surprise visit to Railway Hospital in Secunderabad. He enquired about the facilities of the hospital with the patients. The Minister promised for an aid for Rs. 1.5 Crores for the construction of out patient.

RTC Employee's Unions said that they will be preparing for a relay strike starting 23rd September demanding for the Government's lack of response to its promises. The National Mazdoor Union demanded for an immediate action and asked the other unions to get united and support them.

Farmers in Hanumakonda staged a dharna for not solving their problem of low voltage. The Power Sub-station employees were brought out and the office was locked.

Members of the AP Rythu Sangham blocked the Office of the AP Transco in Vijayawada asking the Government to withdraw their anti-farmer plans.

Hyderabad Police, members of Mythri Sangham and students from various Schools and Colleges staged a peace rally in Old Town asking people to maintain peace during the Ganesh Nimarjanotsavams.

Two Village-level leaders of Telugu Desam Party at Atmakur in Kurnool were attacked and killed by suspected People's War Group naxals.

Hyderabad Police said that they have arrested 5 people in connection with the murder of a women and her daughter. A thief - Sri Sailam - who broke into the house on the day said that by the time he went to the house, the two women were dead. The 6-tulas worth gold items that were taken away from the house were being recovered. Two more people Chand Basha and Arzoo who were believed to be connected with the case have absconded.

A Review meet on the developments in Amalapuram and West Godavari was held by Collector Jawahara Reddy. He discussed on the post-death of GMC Balayogi and asked Public Sector Units (PSU's) not to withdraw their programs from the area.

Srikakulam MLA Mr. Appalasuryanarayana spoke at a program being organized at the AP Rural Banks Union and said that he will oppose the Chalapati Committee for privatization of rural banks.

Mr. M Pulayya - a Naxal who worked for the People's War Group in various anti-social programs including torching fire to a bus and blasting a telephone exchange surrender before the Guntur District Collector Anjaneyulu.
