Accident in a fire crackers unit claims 12
Over 12 persons died when crackers and other Diwali items in a store caught accidentally fire. 6 of the 12 who were dead were from Gujarat. 8 more persons who were injured were rushed to the hospital. The incident occurred at Karthikeya Enclave in Begumpeta in Hyderabad. Initial reports say that short circuit was the reason for the accident.

Government releases fresh guidelines for Food For Work program
The State Government has announced that the cost of rice that is given under the 'Food For Work' program costs Rs 8 a kilo. It may be recalled that the earlier price of Rs. 5.65 lead to controversy. The Government has also issued some fresh guidelines for the program. Gramasabha's (Village Meets) were compulsory to determine the works in a village. Machinery such as cranes and bull dozers should not be used in the works.

Ranga Reddy district won the MLA Cup Kho-Kho Competitions held at Gopalapatnam in Visakhapatnam. Ranga Reddy district beat West Godavari 9-3. MLA Sri Ganababu distributed the prizes.

Neta Bazaar's to be set up to sell handloom products
The State Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu met today at the Legislature. The cabinet decided to set up Neta Bazaar to sell handloom products. A special Police Commissionerate in Ranga Reddy to be set up as Cvberabad Police Commissionerate. The cabinet also decided to allocate 30 acres of land from Musheerabad Jail for construction of Gandhi Hospital buildings. Minister for Information and Public Relations Mr. Chandra Mohan Reddy informed this in a press release.

Tirupati is all set for the 36th State Police Games that will begin from tomorrow. Over 13 stadiums were initially selected for the games in which over 1500 police personnel will be taking part in sports such as Football, Hockey, Basketball besides others. The best performers will be representing the state to the National-level games.

Students of the Tirupati Veterinary Hospital staged a rally and blocked the Tirupati-Bangalore road against the discrimination of Professors and at the reforms of the Veterinary Council.

A Seminar on Laws for Muslim Women was held at Dr. Ambedkar Law College at Andhra University in Visakhapatnam. Professors from the Department of Law, various Courts and Tribunals spoke at the meet.

District Level Bankers Meet was held in Anantapur. The District Collector asked the banks to dispatch loan amounts being allocated to the DWACRA Groups failing.

Employee Unions of the APSRTC, Warangal staged dharnas and demonstrations demanding the management to provide a solution to their long term problems which includes converting some posts into permanent and providing leave encashment facility.

BSNL Executive Employees Association and Joint Action Committee staged dharna and demonstrations asking for salary scales equal to those of public sector employees.

Satyam Computer Services announced income of Rs. 500 Crores for the three months. This is the first time that the company crossed the Rs. 500 crores mark for 3 months. An interim divident of 40% was announced.

Infotech Enterprises announced Rs. 6.25 Crores profit for 3 months ending September 30, 2002.
