Mahatma Gandhi remembered
Governor Dr. C Rangarajan, Union Minister Sri Bandaru Dattatreya, Chief Minister and State Ministers took part in the birthday celebrations of Gandhiji held at Bhapu Ghat. Special prayers were held at the Babu Smaraka Mandir which was constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.5 crores. Speaking at the program, CM said that the area will be developed into a tourist center by developing the landscape.

CM releasing a book at Mass Community Singing Telugu Talli at LB Stadium
Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu took part in the birthday celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi at Lal Bhadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad. Children from various schools in the state took part in the Kalasi Paadudam. They recited community songs and all-religion songs at the Mass Community Singing program and took part in various cultural programs. Minister for Primary Education Sri Mandava Venkateswra Rao was also present at the program.


The 3rd phase of Akshara Shankranti program began all over the state today. Speaker of Legislature Mrs. Prathiba Bharathi took part in the program held at Sharemahamud Mandal of Srikakulam district. Minister Sri JR Pushparaj and MLA Mrs S Aruna took part in the program held in Guntur.

Members of the Lok Satta took out a rally today against the recent Election Ordinance.

PV Narasimha Rao at a book release Former Prime Minister Sri P V Narasimha Rao released a book entitled "Art of Living" authored by Prof. IV Chalapathi Rao at the Sri Yabaluri Raghavaiah Memorial Trust in Hyderabad.
Decoits creates havoc in Rangareddy
A driver was killed and money from a petrol bunk at Ghatkeswar which was at the outskirts of Ranga Reddy district by unknown people. A 4 member decoit team came to the area and suddenly attacked the employees at the petrol bunk, took away cash and went away. SP Mr. Ramachandra Raju who visited the areas said that preliminary investigation is on and felt that the decoits were choosing areas where there will be no police activity.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister who visited the Sooraram area which was attacked by a decoit team yesterday said that the decoits should be killed if found and asked the people not to support them. He said that Cell phones will be given to police personnel who works at night. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 1 Lakh for the families of the died. He also promised of a new commissioner to Rangareddy area.

CM inaugurates Malupu program
Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the Malupu program specially crafted for the Leather industry workers in the state. He distributed Leather kits at a program held in Hyderabad. He said that International quality training will be provided at the proposed Leather parks in the state. The Government will be setting leather parks for every 400 villages to target at the International shoe market. He said that the Government will take the help of international players for Technology-know-how.

CLP asks for discussion on drought in Assembly
CLP Leader Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy demanded for a discussion on the drought situation in the state at the legislature. He said that lack of clear that power cuts to an extent of 6 hrs in towns and frequent cuts for agricultural fields was a clear indication that that the irrigation department hasn't taken studied about the issue seriously. He said that this was serious problem for the farmers who could not look at the crops. He discussed about his recent visits to the drought areas of the state with the Press. He said that re-appropriation of budget also should be discussed at the Assembly. He expressed sorry at the lathi charge on MLA's in Karimnagar and said that he will finalize his Coastal Andhra visit shortly.

Global Hospitals gets modern Liver Intensive Care unit
State Health Minister Sri Kodela Sivaprasad inaugurated the Liver Intensive Care of Global Hospitals in Hyderabad today. This unit has the best and modern infrastructure for Liver operations and was setup at a cost of Rs. 5 Crores. Chairman Dr. Ravindra Nath said that quality of international repute was given importance at the hospital and that it will be providing liver transplantation facility soon. The Minister who spoke at the program asked the gathering to take Health- care Insurance and asked the authorities to give its facilities at the best affordable cost.

Adimoolam Venkataramana - a farmer from Cuddapah died committing suicide with his groundnut crop failing and after left with a loan of Rs. 1.5 Lakhs which he is unable to pay and unable to conduct marriage for his sister.

A Naxal of the People's War Group Mr. Penugunda Nageswara Rao surrendered before SP Mr. Seetaramanjaneyulu in Guntur.
