Indo-ASEAN Business Summit begins
Singapore Finance Minister Mr. Shanmukhalingam has called upon for the linkage between major Asian towns. He said that productivity is the key and that this can be achieved by connecting people and cultures across nations. He spoke at the Indo-ASEAN Business Summit that began at Hyderabad. The Summit drew attention of leading business personalities from India and South East Asia including Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia.

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu highlighted about the vast human resources available in the country in areas such as IT, Agro Processing, Bio Technology and other areas. He said that Andhra Pradesh alone will be generating over 65,000 Engineers in various diversified areas from various out of colleges and that counties like Singapore can make use of this skilled man power.

AICC asks PCC not to pass resolution on free power
The All-India Congress Party told the Pradesh Congress Party not to pass any resolution or promise to the state about providing free power to the farmers. This decision was taken with the bad situation that appeared in Punjab which took back its offer following difficulties in implementation. CLP Leader Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy told to press that he hasn't received any such message and said he will take a decision when he gets one.

Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd has been listed in the Forbes Global magazine as "Best Under a Billion, Forbes Global's 200 Best Small Companies for 2002".

Polytechnics to offer 5 new courses
Minister for Technical Education and Training Mr. M. Anjaneyulu has announced 5 new courses that select Polytechnics in the state will begin offering. He said that these courses were designed keeping in mind of the career aspects of students who get qualified from the Polytechnics. The courses includes those in Jewellery Design, Interior Decoration, Bio Technology besides others.

Minister Mr. Mandava Venkateswara Rao said that the appointment of upgraded teachers will be made as per rules and regulations. He spoke with the press in Nizamabad. Various teacher unions asked the Government to consider filling the posts with Service teachers.

Minister Mr. Mandava Venkateswara Rao inaugurated the 48th scool games at Nandipet in Nizamabad district today.

The District administration of Vizianagaram completed the works for the much awaited "Vizianagaram Utasavams" that will be organized for 3 days. Stalls were setup including those of books where Historical books that detail on Vizianagaram will be put on display.

Youth Congress stages dharnas and demonstrations
Congress Youth congress staged dharnas and processing against the policies of the TDP-led Government in the state. A procession was held in Ranga Reddy asking the Government to stop concentrating on electricity bills and look at farmers problems in the state. Nellore Congress demanded for additional water to the farmers of the district from the Somasila project.

Former MLA Ram Bhupal Chowdary took part in the rallies and processions being organized by Kurnool Congress. He said that the Government has no keen interest at farmers. Similar slogans were raised at Cuddapah, Visakhapatnam and Anantapur districts.

Kurnool Police began celebrating the Police Commemoration Fortnight in a different manner. They made their way to the schools in the district and displayed various equipments such as Walkie Talkies, Rifles etc. that are used by the Police. They also warned about the dangers about using them.

Koneru Humpy out of II World Cup Chess
India's Koneru Humpi lost in Semifinals of IInd World Chess Cup tournament that was going at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. Bad moves in the middle game of the game were believed to be the reasons for loss in the game. Meanwhile, Indian Grand Master Viswanathan Anand drew his match today.

The 4th CBSE Basket Ball Tournaments began in Vijayawada today. Cultural Programs were being organized.

At Warangal, it is time for Mini Handball Competitions that began today. Over 15 districts in the state were taking part in the competitions. The initial matches of the day were won by Hyderabad and Warangal districts.
