7 Railway collies die as train rams from behind

Visakhapatnam, 5 Nov 2002

In an aghast incident, seven railway coolies who were working on tract at Porlipalem - 20 Kms from Visakhapatnam. The accident occurred at 3:45 PM. The coolies who were working on the tract saw a goods train coming on up line and tried to move aside. They could not observe the Visakha - Rayagada DMU Passenger train coming from the down line. Over 22 railway gang men were working on the tract at that area. The DMU train hit them from behind when brought the inevitable death to the coolies.

The news of the incident has shocked the families of the dead and people in the area. Almost all of them who were dead were a native of Vizianagaram. Dead bodies with parts separated were scattered all over the area. Main trains moved to and fro over the bodies of the dead. The Railway Police and Visakhapatnam District Police came to the spot and made preliminary check ups at the area.
