Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam visits Hyderabad Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam visited Hyderabad and took part in various programs. He visited the Center for Cell and Molecular Biology(CCMB). He has spent time interacting with scientists and discussing on their projects. He asked the scientists to make sure that their innovations reach the common man. Later he visited the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) and has taken part in the Convocation function. He visited the Vidya Bhawan and interacted with children there. President left for New Delhi in a flight in the evening. CM inaugurates National Science Exhibition Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated National Science Exhibition at Hyderabad today. Addressing to the students from various parts of the country, he asked the students to concentrate and make use of science in real life. He stressed the importance of Information Technology(IT). Andhra Pradesh Coast Guard Commander and Deputy Inspector General Mr. DB Prasad said that two boat stations will be setup at Kakinada (East Godavari) and Odalareevu (Krishna). The first phase of the project will be completed this year with the setup of the Boat Station at Kakinada. He also said that two more additional helicopters will be provided to the Coast Guard. Regional Manger of Guntur Division of APSRTC said that the Transport Corporation has decided to run only old busses in Naxal-effected areas. It may be recalled that Naxals were targeting at blasting RTC busses thinking that police would be moving in them. Naxals of the People's War Group blasted the Telephone Exchange at Rapaadu in Anantapur leaving 7 villages away from telephones. Property worth R. 20 Lakhs was lost as the naxals torched the exchange with petrol fire. Naxals has torched fire to a Tata Cellular Tower Office at Rayachoti in Cuddapah at around 6:30 PM. The loss of property was at Rs. 1.5 Lakhs. 12 supporters of Naxals surrendered before the Nalgonda Police. The Police's programs that promised the people of food and shelter has made the supporters to surrender. Over 300 houses were burnt in a fire accident at K Kotapadu in Visakhapatnam. The fire began at 4:15 PM and put off at 9 PM. Director General of Police Mr. Pervaram Ramulu has announced promotions to various DSP's in the state.
