Congress demands for immediate implementation of reservations in Government promotions Discussion on promotion to Government employees came to the Legislature. BJP asked for postponement on the topic though TDP said that a decision to this effect will be taken in after a cabinet decision. The topic was discussed for an hour and a half. The Government said that there were legal complications and that they have to be taken into considered before the same was implemented. CPM Member Nomula Narasimha Rao asked the Government for a date on which a decision to this effect will be taken. TRS Leader Mr. K Chandrasekhara rao said that other states were already implementing this and asked for a constitution amendment as required. CLP Leader Dr. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy said that Dalits have their legal right for promotions as per the 98 Constitution Amendment and asked for categorically decision as other states were already implementing it. Replying to the questions, TDP Leader N Chandrababu Naidu said that backlog posts were filled and that Government has no intention to discourage any section of the community and that it will fight for implementation of law and justice. There was no Question and Answer session today at the Legislature. Discussions on Smart Governance at the Legislature were completely diverted as Government and Congress Members began to make comments on each other. CLP Members said that criminal background people were in the Cabinet and questioned as to how accountability will be available in case the Ministers were having corrupt backgrounds. Minister Kodela Sivaprasad said that his family is highly educated and questioned about the background of CLP Leader and his involvement into factions. Replying to this, CLP Leader asked the Government to put an enquiry on him and take action. Speaker on Chair said that words of CLP Leader won't go into records for which Congress members walked to the podium demanding for an explanation. Later discussions on Smart Governance continued. He said that drinking water problem has already started and will persist for a long time in the future. Problems in Power sector, grass for cows may come in the future. Film Star Chiranjeevi requested the medical shops not to give medicines without the prescriptions for Doctors. He said that blood bank of Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust will expand soon and that it will be having its own building by March 2003. Three persons died at an unguarded level crossing 9 kms from Narasaraopet in Guntur district. Two trains coming from either direction on the tacks pushed three persons going on a motor cycle leaving them dead. While one body was 100 feet away from the spot, the other two were 200 feet away. Bundh was observed at the Andhra University campus demanding for a recall of Vice Chancellor of the University.
