Congress stages walkout as Governments rejects for a House Committee on Food-for-Work program
The State Legislature discussed on full length on Food-for-Work program being undertaken by the Government. The Congress Party asked to setup an Assembly Committee to study and make a finding of irregularities in the program - particularly the transfer of rice bags which were illegally taken by TDP-supporters in Nellore district. Congress commented that it looks like the program was put for TDP MLA's.

Replying to this, Chief Minister said that cases were already put up on those who were involved in irregularities and that there is no special need for a House Committee. Not happy with this, Congress members staged a walk out.

Minister for Child and Women Welfare Mrs. S Sarasvathi said today in Legislature, that Family Counselling Centers will be setup in 79 Revenue Divisions of the state at a cost of Rs. 79 Lakhs.

Minister Mutyam Reddy replied to the Legislature that the Government is conducting a survey and based on this, new white ration cards will be given. Questions on this were raised by CPM.

CITU members gave a letter to Minister for Labor, Babu Mohan requesting for filling of pending posts of Health Paramedical. The Minister said that reports were yet to come and based on that, an action will be taken,

BJP MLA Mr. K Haribabu asked the Government on its plans for EAMCET 2003. Replying to this, Minister for Technical Education Mr. Nerella Anjayaneryulu said that Intermediate marks will be given weightage for EAMCET and this decision was taken as a means of rationalization of EAMCET Paper.

CLP Leader Dr. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy met Chief Minister Mr. M Chandrababu Naidu with a delegation from villages from the Somasila Project. Dr. YSR asked to setup a Lok Adalat and help farmers get justice in the area much quicket.

Union Defence Minister Mr. George Fernandez addressed a gathering at Gora Centenary Celebrations held in Vijayawada.

Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated Money Wise - an Exhibition on Banking at Hyderabad today. The 3-day exhibition has stalls being setup by National and Private Banks, Financial institutions and top-notch Stock Exchanges of the country.

Police raided on Angles Beauty Parlor in Vijayawada as a cheating case was filed on the company. The management and its members are have absconded. The Parlor has branches in Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad.

Girijan Corporation sets Rs. 150 Crores as target
Girijan Corporation Chairman Mr. Vidyasagar Rao said that sales of Rs. 150 Crores was put as target for this year. He spoke with the Press at Tirupati and said that Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam and Railways were coming with a tie-up to promote the products of the Corporation. He also said that Rs. 5 Crores was allocated for Crop loans.

5 dead including 4 Government employees died in an accident in Mahabubnagar. The accident occurred when the Tata Sumo in which they were traveling was hit by a Lorry. The 4 were on their way to a marriage function.

7 dead bodies from the KC Kanal in Nandyal of Kurnool when a van fell into the canal. 12 divers worked all night to recover the bodies. The Government announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 10,000 to the families of the dead.

Union Agriculture Minister said that the Birth Anniversary of former Prime Minister Sri Charan Singh will hence forth be observed as "Kisan Divas".

NSUI delegations meets CM - asks for recall of Andhra University VC
National Students Union of India (NSUI) demanded for the recall of Vice Chancellor of Andhra University Prof. YC Simhadri as he was acting as a dictator and was not listening to the demands of the students. Representatives of the Union met the Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu who listened to the problems of the students. They also asked for the removal of 144 section from the campus.

Kaloji's body given to Medical hospital
The memorial of revolutionary write Sri Kaloji was held at Warangal. His body was later given to the Warangal Medical College. Minister Sri Kadiyam Sri Hari, SP Sri Nalini Prabath, Collector Prabhkar Reddy visited the home of Kaloji and convinced the family members of Kaloji.The body was injected with Formalin which allows it to be clean even for 4 years. During the 4 year period, the family members can visit the hospital and check the body.
