Mandal President killed

The Mandal President of Jinnaram Mandal Praja Parishad in Medak Mr. V Pratap Reddy was murdered in the city outskirts of Hyderabad by his political rivals. He went to IDA Bollaram to meet his third daughter and some unknown people attacked on him and beat on his head. He died on his way to the hospital.

Notorious criminal killed in encounter

Meda Venkateswarulu - a notorious criminal involved in various Criminal activities and whose name was in police records in Guntur, Krishna and West Godavari districts was shot dead after a long chase by Police forces in Krishna district. Tadepalli SI Mr. K Sudhakar received a phone call that Mr. Meda has snatched a gold chain and was running. Mr. Sudhakar along with his constable s immediately went to the spot when they were surprised to see Meda attacking them. As an act of self defense, the police opened eleven rounds of fire killing the victim.

A Section Officer of the Education Section of the Secretariat - Mr. Vittal Das (45) was killed outside his office at about 8:30 PM. It is suspected that his relatives have done this.

The State Government announced tax exemption for one more year upto March 2003 for purchase of Subabl/Eucalyptus and Casurina Poles by Paper Mills in the state if bought from Agriculture Market Committees.

The National Child Labor Project (NCLP) Officials rescued two children who were chained and put to tedious work in Kurnool.

Six labor people died when a wall collapsed in Pusapatirega area in Vizianagaram.

The Kurnool Police unearthed a huge dump of ammunition being used by Naxals. The material included 30 bombs, 1136 gelatins ticks, 4848 detonators, 85 Kgs of explosive material and 1000mts fuse wires.

APCC President Sri M Satyanarayana Rao inaugurated the Political training camp in Ongole. Narasarapoet MP Sri N Janardhana Reddy was present at the inauguration function.
