People's War Group picks up their representatives

The CPI - ML People's War Group have chosen revolutionary writers Mr. P Varavara Rao and Mr. Gaddar as their representatives for talks with the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The PWG State Committee Secretary Mr. Rama Krishna issued a 2-page letter stating the two were selected for 'determining the modalities'. The committee also chose Committee of Concerned Citizens (CCC) President Mr. S R Sankaran to be an observer.

Poor turnout at Amalapuram Lok Sabha bypoll

The Bypoll at Amalapuram for the Lok Sabha election turned out to be peaceful with a poor poll turnout. With Ms. Vijaya Lakshmi - widow of former Lok Sabha Speaker Sri GMC Balayogi in fray, the election looked out to be unanimous. The overall percentage of poll was 39.1% when compared to previous turnout's which were over 70%.

CM inaugurated hi-tech power distribution facility

Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the state's first hi-tech power distribution center at Erragadda. The facility was named as Electricity Remote Control Center and severs for Hyderabad and other 9 surrounding municipalities. The center has a control system called the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Center (SCADA) and was setup by AP Central Power Distribution Company at a cost of Rs. 32 Crores with technology from the UK.

Governor Dr. Rangarajan flagged off a rally against Tobacco to mark the 'World No Tobacco Day'. The Rally was organized by Mahila Dakshata Samithi, Red Cross, Society for Cancer in Oral Cavity Prevention through Education (SCOPE), Confederation of Voluntary Agencies etc.

Peoples Front against Water Tax hike

Peoples Front commented today in Hyderabad that the recent hike in Water Tax by Metro Water Works was unfair and that increase would not have been as much as 150%. They said that they will agitate and stage rallies in the district in regard to the issue. Ministers Mr. Talasani Srinuvasa Yadav and Mr. Vidhayadhar Rao said that hike in water tax is not abnormal and that this is fair when compared to other municipalities in the state. He said that this has to be taken 2 years before.

Warangal District Collector released loan schedule for the district

Warangal District Collector K Prabhakar Reddy announced the loans schedule 2002-03 financial year for the district at the District Collectorate today. He said that industries need to take any additional permissions at the District and can open their establishments in the district.

An M.Com Post Graduate Degree holder and a farmer-turned-thief was caught by Tirupati Police today. The thief was a resident of Chitoor and used to steal Cell phones, Laptops and other costly items from fellow commuters in trains. Items worth Rs. 3.5 Lakhs were receiver from him.
The Urban Health Center at Nellore organized a Health awareness camp and explains on how to avoid AIDS to the residents of the district. A quiz on health and hygiene was organized and prized were distributed.
