TDP still undecided on its candidate for Lok Sabha Speaker

Telugu Desam Party President Mr N Chandrababu Naidu said that Polit bureau of the Party will be meeting tomorrow to decide on Lok Sabha Speaker. However he did not comment as to when it will announce.

CM takes part in development works in Kurnool and Rangareddy

Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu visited various areas in Nandikotkuru area in Kurnool district. He checked the Roads development works, Water shed and other Water management programs. He commented that Congress will never know of the benefits of Janmabhoomi programme as long as they stay in Hyderabad and ignore the districts and villages. He also visited Kandukuru village in Mutcharla of Ranga Reddy. He promised that there will not be any lack of funds for the Water programs in the state. He inaugurated Road development works under Food for Work program.

Notification for Lok Sabha Elections in Amalapuram on 6 May 2002

Election Commission Incharge-Commissioner Mr. Rajat Kumar has held an All-Party Meeting in regard to the Lok Sabha Election for Amalapuram. The Notification will be released on 6 May and that the last date for the withdrawl of nominations will be 16 May. Only 25% of the Voters in the constituency have Voter Id Cards and the remaining voters are requested to cast their vote showing their identity (either Ration card or Driving license). However, Political parties were dissatisfied at this. Meanwhile, APCC President Sri M Satyanarana Rao said that the decision as to weather or not a Congress candidate will stand for the election will be left over to AICC President Ms. Sonia Gandhi as Wife of Sri Balayogi is expected to stand from the region.

Executive Officer of Simhachalam Devasthanam Mr. Sankar Rao in Visakhapatnam was found to be absconding. Mr. Sankar Rao is involved in some allegations in regard to dealings of sale of land of the Devasthanam.
A 500 MW Transformer Eastern Grid at Kudi in Karnataka tripped which in turn tripped transfers of RCL, BSES and other grids. The problem was rectified in 1 hr and normalness prevailed.
Special Guerilla Squad member of the Peoples War Group and Adilabad District Action Team Leader Mr. Eleti Dharmaiah alias Kondanna was killed in an encounter in Mandamarri town of Adilabad district. Mr. Kondanna and two others were planning to kill a top TDP Leader in the area when the police forces came into swift action.
Nine Left Parties decided to hold statewide protests and picket District Collectorates in the state on May 14 against the power tariff hike, property tax hike and problems of weavers and farmers. CPI State Deputy Secretary Mr. K Narayana announced this in Anantapur.
The Sub-Committee selected NCS Estates Private Limited as the most preferred bidder for Nizam Sugars Limited for a price of Rs. 20.07 Crores. The Committee also approved Indur Green Power Private Limited as the preferred bidder for Parchur Cooperative Spinning Mills.
Mr. Puli Vidyasagar Reddy (45) died after committing suicide by consuming pesticide due to the failure of cotton crop in Karimnagar.
The Telugu Desam Party selected Warangal as the venue for this years Mahanadu programme to be held from May 27.
Chief of Naval Staff of French Navy Mr. J L Battet visited the Eastern Naval Command on Thursday and left on Friday. He discussed on the Bilateral relations between the Indian and French Navy. He also visited the Kursura Submarine Museum.
