Vice President lays foundation stone for ICH

Vice-President of India, Sri Krishna Kanth laid the foundation stone for International Convention Hall at the National Institute of Rural Development in Hyderabad. Union Minister for Rural Development Mr. M Venkiah Naidu was also present. Speaking at the inauguration function, Sri Krishna Kanth said that experiences were drawn our from the unhappy experiences with Mexico and the happy experiences with China and Vietnam regarding the importance of non-farm rural sector.

GMC Balayogi Stadium inaugurated

The prestigious GMC Balayogi Stadium at Hyderabad was inaugurated. On the first day of events of Asian Ground Pre-Athletic meet, Bahadoor Sagu won a Gold Medal in Shortput. Sivanand bagged Gold in 3000m running while Binamol won Bronze in 400m running.

A Central Committee team headed by Joint Secretary of Union Agriculture Ministry Mr. A S Bhuria visited the drought hit areas of Ongole and reviewed the food-for-work programme.

A team of the APCC led by CLP Leader Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy, CLP Leader Sri K Rosayya and others presented a memorandum on the violations of the Food-for-Work program to the Joint Secretary of Union Agriculture Ministry Mr. A S Bhuria. They demanded for an enquiry into misappropriations of funds by the CBI.

Sri Devulapalle Amar, Editor of Prajatantra was re-elected as the President of Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists.

The Convention of GITAM Institute of Foreign Trade was held in Visakhapatnam. Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Mr. Rajiv Pratap Ruby, SAARC Chamber President Padma Jyothi, Vice Chancellor of Andhra University Prof YC Simhadri, MP of Visakhapatnam Sri MVVS Murthy and others took part in the program.
