More die due to severe heat in Andhra Pradesh
As many as 223 persons died in Andhra Pradesh with the Sun reluctant to move from the area spellings its immense heat. Guntur reported as many as 60 persons dead due to sun stroke. Even the Coastal belt remained hot during the last few days. The Cyclone Warning Center reported that this situation will remain till Tuesday. Kovvuru reported the highest temperature of 51 degrees.
Higher Education Minister passes away
Higher Education Minister Sri Karanam Ramachandra Rao died at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Science following a Cardiac arrest. He is 62 and is survived by a wife, two sons and two daughters. Sri Karanam Ramachandra Rao is a senior politician and joined the Cabinet of Sri N Chandrababu Naidu. He was Minister in Sri N T Rama Rao Cabinet twice. Sri Rama Chandra Rao was born in Medak and did his graduation in Sciences.
ITF Mens Satellite Tennis Tournament begins
District In-charge Minister Sri Ch Ayyannapatrudu declared open the ITF Mens Satellite Tennis Tournament that began at the Tennis Complex at Andhra University. Minister Sri Ashok Gajapathi Raju, MLA Sri Gana Babu, Mayor of VMC Mrs Rajana Ramani, District Collector Sri Sunil Sharma, Joint Collector Sri Krishna Babu and others took part in the inauguration program.
JNTU announced that it will be releasing EAMCET 2002 Results on 16th May 2002 and that all arrangements for the same were complected. This years results also carry marks besides the usual Ranks.
CLP Leader Dr YS Raja Sekhar Reddy, APCC Secretary Sri Rosayya and other members of the Andhra Pradesh Congress made a surprise visit to the Shadnagar Agriculture Market. They found that the farmer there were not given the minimum support price.
The Health Dairy which is referred as the guide for Community Health Workers (CHW) was released by Health Minister Sri N Janardhan Reddy in Hyderabad.
