Heat waves sweeps the state - 101 reported dead due to sun stroke

Heat waves continued to sweep the state of Andhra Pradesh. As many as 101 persons were reported to be bead unable to withstand to the immense temperatures. Guntur topped the list with 16 reported deaths, East Godavari with 15, West Godatavari 12, Prakasam with 11, Krishna with 10 and Visakhapatnam with 9. Visakhapatnam reported the hottest day in the history since 1978 with Airport reporting 45 degrees while Waltair reported 40.5 degrees.

As many as 300 huts were destroyed in a fire accident in Hiramandalam village Srikakulam district. Fire brigades from Kotturu and Amadalavalasa rushed to the spot and tried to bring flames into control. The fire broke out due to an electric short circuit.
50 houses burns due to a fire accident at Kakinada. The Loss of property due to the fire is reported to be Rs. 50 Lakhs.
Revenue Minister Sri P Ashok Gajapati Raju was nominated to the TDP Awards Panel to select 200 of the outstanding people who made Telugu Desam Part a proud party.
CLP Leader Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy and State Mahila Congress President Mrs. J Geeta Reddy toured Kokkonda Village in Medak district where the first Janmabhoomi program was inaugurated by the Chief Minister few years ago. Dr YSR said that the Janmabhoomi programme is set up to fill the pockets of TDP members in the region and felt that no development works were being completed that were under taken. He referred to a sub station that was proposed to be constructed but transformers for the same were not yet installed.
The Executive Officer of Simhachalam Devasthanam Mr. V Sankara Rao refused the charges made against him in regard to Vemulavada Temple case.
Medak Police released as many as 1922 militants and sympathisers as a part of the 'Vimukthi' program.
