Congress asked the Government to pass a resolution for provision of reservation for Dalits in Private Sector. Minister for Social Welfare Mr. JR Pushparaj said that a Constitutional amendment has to be brought in regard to this. However, the Congress stressed on the issue. BJP said that Congress has to get back to its Central party and act accordingly. Congress MLA Mr. D Nagendar criticized that because of the BJP at the center that there was unrest in Gujarat in the Assembly today. Each of the members from the Congress and BJP commented against each other.

Minister Mr. Kadiyam Srihari said that TDP will support amendment of a law in regard to this if the Congress party passes them in the Parliament. CLP Leader Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy said that TDP was unable to do such things even though they are supporting the NDA led Government.

Speaker postponed further discussions with a Tea Break. Congress Members went near the podium demanding for discussion on the issue and passing of the resolution. Speaker on chair later announced that 42 congress members were suspended. CPI, MIM staged walkout against the Government acts in the Assembly. 1 member from the CPM and MIM were also suspended.

TRS felt that discussion on the issue is required and protested against the Government for not acting fairly.
Minister NMD Farooq said in Assembly that DFYD programme will be extended to 10 more districts. He said that Briton came forward to fund to a tune of Rs. 182 Crores towards the programme. He said that the reforms and the programme were implemented well before the proposed dates.

AP NGO's Association - Women's Wing organised a seminar on Women rights today as a mark of International Women's Day today in Hyderabad. Minister Mrs. S Saraswathi took part in a seminar. She said that a law will be brought making marriage registrations compulsory.

AP Mahila Congress Committee celebrated International Women's Day today. A Seminar on 'Rising Crimes Against Women' was organised in which PCC President Mr. M Satyanarayana Rao spoke. He said that women has to gain their rights by united fight against the society. The Seminar felt that Women are being treated as second level citizens in the society.

CPI(M) organised a seminar on Women in modern society entitled 'Mahila Sahidaritha'. Parliament Member Mrs. Chandrakala Pande took part in the meet.

A rally was held by AIDWA demanding for equality of women in the society in Vijayawada today. They staged dharna at the District Collectorate. A Seminar on Women rights was held at Layola College Auditorium.

Guntur Ladies Club met District Collector and submitted a memorandum asking for Women reservation to be implemented in the next Parliament session. A Photo exhibition on Women in Society was organised.

Chaitanya Sravanthi organised a meet to celebrate International Women's Day in Visakhapatnam. District Collector Mr. Sunil Sharma, VUDA Chairman Mr. SA Rehman, Commissioner of Police Mr. AK Khan took part and spoke in the meet.

Tension was raised in Old City when a violent group threw stones against VHP building Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Police restored to action immediately and lathi charged against the group. 13 people were injured in the incident.
Bharateeya Janatha Party decided to be against hike in power prices. The State Level Office Bearers that met today decided accordingly. It also decided to oppose increase in House tax in Municipalities and suggest alternative ways of raising funds. BJP Leader Sri Chilakam Ramachandar Rao and others took part.
Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) has held a public hearing on the proposed hike in power tariffs at the Zilla Parishad Meeting Hall in Visakhapatnam. Members of CPM, Rythu Sangham and Consumer Forum took part in the meet and opposed the move for any further hike in the tariff.
A National seminar on Neuropathy was held in Visakhapatnam today. Experts in the field took part in the programme.
People and Political Parties staged a rastha rokho in Nellore demanding the withdrawal of the House tax by the Municipality. They said that this is not as per the law as the municipalities were not allowed to hake any the tax rates before 5 years.
CPM began Signature campaign and began collecting signatures from the public against anti-people reforms by the State and Central Governments in Vijayawada.
A farmer belonging to Mylavaram Assembly Constituency committed suicide by consuming poison in a lodge in Vijaywada. Congress and Left Party activists raised slogans on the incident since the assembly segment if of the Agriculture Minister's.
Kondreddy Yella Reddy - Surpanch of Eturu mandal of Cuddapah was murdered by his rivals of the Telugu Desam Party in Cuddapah.
The Kothagudem Police seized 300 qunitals of Ganja worth Rs. 9 Lakhs in a raid in Regalla village in Khammam district.
