Congress against opposition of Chitoor Co-Operative Dairy
Congress commented at the Assembly about the privatization initiative of Chitoor Co-Operative Dairy and that this was a wrong move since the Co-Operative was in profits. Minister Mr. Nimma Kistappa said that the Government has no intention of privatization and that the move was made by the Co-Operative Society only. Following no change in the situation when the Congress stood near the podium, the Panel speaker postponed the proceedings for tomorrow.
22 Naxals of Peoples War Group surrenders
As many as 22 naxals of the People's War Group surrendered before the Director General of Police Mr. Pervaram Ramulu in Hyderabad. The Naxals only had special training in attacking Police Stations in February.
Naxals of the People's War Group burnt two busses of the APSRTC near Barampuram checkpost in Nizamabad District. No causalities were reported.
High Court asks for DNS Test report of Prathyusha
The Andhra Pradesh High Court directed the authorities to conduct DNS Test on the viscera of actress Prathyusha which are at Forensic Science Laboratory and compare them with the cells of her mother.
Red Cross to extend its blood banks in all districts
The Andhra Pradesh General Meet of the Indian Red Cross Society was held today in Hyderabad. President of the Society Branch in Andhra Pradesh and Governor Dr Ranga Rajan took part in the meet. The Meet decided to look for the establishment of Blood Banks in all districts headquarters by the year end. Visakhapatnam district collector Mr. Sunil Sharma was awarded a Red Cross Meritious Gold Medal for his services as the Best Collector of Prakasam from Governor Dr. Rangarajan.
Managing Director of Margadarsi Chit Fund Smt Sailaja Kiran inaugurated Vedayapalem Branch which is the 69th branch of the company. She said that investors have to be intelligent and invest in trusted companies only.
A Mourning Meet was held at Karimnagar which is the home town of SI Sanjeev who died in Eturu Nagaram encounter recently. The Government granted an ex-gratia of Rs. 7.5 Lakh for the family of Mr. Sanjeev.
Bundh was observed today in Warangal district in wake of recent encounter as Etury Nagaram area. However Inter and SSC exams were held smoothly and APSRTC Busses ran on roads as usual as special police forces were deployed.
CPI presented a memorandum to Governor Dr. Rangarajan against the hike in Property Tax. Mr. Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy was present.
CPI staged a Dharna at Collector Offices and Municipal Corporation offices in the state. Slogans were raised against the Property Tax in Visakhapatnam, Warangal and Anatapur.
Hyderabad Municipal Corporation said that its Bonds which were collected for the development of the city. Mayor Mr. Theegala Krishna Reddy and Commissioner Mr. Mohanty participated in the press meet.
Anti Goonda squad in Vijayawada arrested 4 people in connection with the creation of 150 Adult CD ROM's. About 400 other fake CD's of movies were also recovered.
The Council meeting of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation was held today. Opposition parties including the Congress felt that the Corporation was not even ready to pay salaries and that the situation was deteriorating and that the Corporation was unable to get funds from the State Government.
A hoax phone call was received that the Andhra University Registrar Office had a bomb. Bomb Squad and Police investigation forces immediately arrived at the scene and finally found that there was no such thing.
