Bandh by VHP ends peacefully - Tension in Old City

The proposed Bandh called by Vishwa Hindu Parishad against the killing of Kar Sevaks at Gujarat ended in the state with no major violence in the state except in the sensitive Old City Area in Hyderabad. APSRTC bus services were severely hit with air in tyres being removed as an when the busses were on roads.

Tension mounted in the Old City area when people started to throw stones against a group of Muslims who were returning from their prayer form the nearby mosque. Supporters of MIM tried to stop them before the police entered into the scene. Firing in air and Lathi Charge was introduced to clear the mob. 4 jeeps of the Police department were destroyed in the incident. The Police arrested 120 people involved in the incident and the list also included some corporators of BJP and TRS.

Speaking with the Press, the Police said that Kar Sevas will be restricted if they get involved in violence and that the Department is working with the Railway Police in checking ticket less travelers and other people who are found to be suspicious or carrying banned material.

Home Minister Mr. Devendar Goud said that there was no problem with locale and the real problem began when outsiders (people from outside the district) made havoc and that 3200 odd people were arrested and 22 busses were burnt.

External organisations may be involved in Gujarat incident - feels Venkiah Naidu

Union Minister Mr. Venkiah Naidu said that there was a link by some external organizations to bring problem to the NDA Government and bring unrest in the state. He asked the VHP to go by the decision of the Court and not to make the issue more problematic. He spoke with the press in Hyderabad today. He said that Urea price was hiked to decrease the usage of urea.

MIM angry at TDP - says TDP is not standing on its words of Secularism

MIM in Assembly said that the Muslim Community will not resist limitless actions against them. MIM leader Mr. Asiruddin Owaisi commented that TDP is indeed supporting the Central Government but failing to be a 'secular'.

MIM leader also commented on the Union Budget. He said that TDP was calm and was not able to do anything even tough the center has hiked the price of Kerosene and LPG. CPI said that TDP was always a follower of World Bank rules and that it was playing like a toy.

Opposition parties including Congress and CPM staged a dharna outside the Assembly. They sat outside the chamber of the Speaker with Gas Cylinders.

Inter State gang arrested in Vizianagaram

An Inter-State gang involved in theft of vehicles was taken into control at Komarada in Vizianagaram. SP Sowmya Mishra said that the gang was from Uttar Pradesh and that they theft vehicles such as Tata Sumo's with wrong number plates and incorrect documents. 9 vehicles worth Rs. 35 Lakhs were recovered from them. 2 jeeps with the same number were also in the list.

Lata Mangeskar visited Hyderabad to take part in a musical concert to be held in the city as a part of raising funds for a hospital to be setup in Pune. She said that people have the power to stop any religion-led violence. She shared her experiences with her telugu songs and said she will work on telugu songs when she is invited by directors.
Vice Admiral Arun Prakash laid the foundation stone for the Phase 2 of the CDM Project at Hyderabad. He delivered a lecture on 'Defense of island territories and setting up of first theater command'.
