Dr. YSR begins campaign at Medak Assembly Constituency

Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy began campaigning for the Congress candidate at Medak Assembly segment. He took part in 3 public meetings and also visited a local church and prayed to the Lord. He questioned that if the TDP has worked for the benefit of Telangana, its past member Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao would not have come out of the party. Minister inaugurated AIDS Counselling Center

Revenue Minister Sri Ashok Gajapathi Raju opened the AIDS Counseling Center at the District Headquarters Hospital in Vizianagaram. Speaking at the program, he said that 97% of the people in Andhra Pradesh are still illiterate about AIDS and that awareness should be brought about in this regard.

Air Hostess sent to remand

An Air Hostess Prabha Kannan being held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport with Indian Currency of Rs. 20 Lakhs was remanded for judicial custody for 14 days till the Special Judge for Economic Offences Justice Narasimha Rao will be available.

Minister inaugurates DoMWUA Exhibition

Ministers NMD Farooq and K Vijayarama visited an Exhibition setup by Minority groups - Development of Minority Women in Urban Areas (DoMWUA) in Hyderabad today. They introduced the Women Credit Card. Speaking with the press at the exhibition, Minister Sri NMD Farooq said that lack of awareness among the minorities was the prime reason for the slow formation of the groups. Handloom items, frocks, cotton designed wear, soft toys, bed sheets, oils including herbal and hair oils, artificial flowers, paintings etc. were put on for display and sale.

RAI develops new Jowar variety

Regional Agriculture Institute at Nandyal, Kurnool developed a new variety of White Jowar. The variety named NTJ-2401 grows well during Rabi season and stands tall for about 95-110 days.

PCC President M Satyanarayana Rao said that they will continue their programs to bring enlightenment among people and bring down the Chandrababu-led Government. He said that his call was wrongly interpreted as reflected in some news papers.
A Programme on implementation of Urdu as a major language in the state was held at Kurnool. The program felt that not enough was done by the State Government towards this.
Irrigation Minister Mr. EK Prabhakar said that about 2760 TMC water being received from Krishna, Godavari and Penna rivers was not fully utilized. He asked the Department to see that it is effectively utilized and draw long term plans for the same.
Home Minister Sri Devendar Goud congratulated women groups for their repayment of loans in time. He distributed packages under the Deepam program at the Kapra Municipality.
Warangal District Collector Mr. K Prabhakar Reddy met with the District officials to discuss on the implementation of the Government rule which states the state Government employees should reside in the area of the work. A special Committee was formed in this regard which meets on a monthly basis and submits its report.
