Government to use services of Ex-servicemen - says CM
Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu took part inaugurated the Ex-Servicemen Sensational Programme in Hyderabad today. The programme was setup for the benefit of Ex-Servicemen in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Speaking at the program, CM promised that the services of retired ex-servicemen will be duly utilized in the next two years time.
School Principals no longer can issue scholarship cheques
Social Welfare Minister Sri J Pushparaj said that the authority of Principals to issue scholarship cheques to SC-ST-BC students. This decision was taken in the wake of recent misappropriation of funds by the staff of the Department. With this withdrawal of power from the Principals, the scholarships will be granted and issued by Sanctioning and Drawing officers at District level and that time-frame bound system of sanctioning will be taken. Dispersing will now be paid by 'Account Payee' cheques only.
EdCET 2002 Exam held despite delay in issue of hall-tickets
EdCET 2002 examination was held with due problems in almost all districts with Andhra University not sending Hall Tickets in time. Over 2.6 Lakh students were writing the examinations all over the state. Problems were prominent in the districts of Mahaboobnagar, Anantapur and Hyderabad where the candidate were taken a photograph and duplicate hall tickets were issued. Meanwhile, some students associations demanded for the cancellation of the examination and re-conducting the same.
NTR Telugu Desam Party leader Ms. Lakshmi Parvathi said that her party opposes CM's comment that they (TDP) never knew of Cmd Lakshmi Sehgal who happens to be a popular fighter for the Nation during the INS and that it was an insult to the Women world.
8 persons who were working at the Pay and Accounts Department were arrested by Police Crime for their involvement in misappropriation of funds of the Government to a tune of Rs. 18 crores. Police said that the involved had crores worth of fixed assets. The suspended were Mr. Santosh Kumar, Mr. Praveen Chandar, Mr. Motia Nayak, Mr. Venkateswara Rao, Mr. Indrasena, Mr. Anjayya, Mr. Prabhakar and Mr. Venkatswamy
APCC President Sri M Satyanarayana Rao and AICC Secretary Dr. T Subbarami Reddy were felicitated by the Visakhapatnam City Congress Committee.
Lok Satta said that it will be taking 'Grama Swarajya' to five districts in the state. Five villages from the districts of Medak, Karimnagar, East and West Godavari and Warangal will be picked for this.
Mr. P Abraham, Member of Union Public Service Commission presented a book on Dr. B R Ambedkar to Governor Dr. C Rangarajan.
Adilabad Police recovered 235 Kgs of Gelatin sticks placed in five bundles between Vayupet and Palavagu villages.
