We are not hindering PWG talks with Govt. - says DGP Ramulu

With the recent withdrawl of mediators Mr. Varavara Rao and Mr. Gaddar from the talks between the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the PWG, the eye is on the Police Department being blamed that they are responsible for the breaks. Director General of Police Sri Pervaram Ramulu inaugurated a modern Forensic and the Khajipet Police Station and speaking with the Press, he asked the War group to come out and leaves their weapons. He said that despite of the talks, PWG naxals remained to roam with weapons. He asked them to return the arms that they've taken from various police stations in the past.

He said that Police protection will be given to Mr. Varavara Rao and Mr. Gaddar.

477 Govt. vehicles off road from Aug 1

Minister Sri Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu said that beginning from Aug 1st, over 477 Government vehicles will be off road since they were used for over 15 years. He said that the APSRTC will be converting or introducing Euro Class I busses.

All two and three wheelers should have Pollution Certificate and that any vehicle moving without it will invite a fine of Rs. 300. 7 special task forces will be deployed to check the same in the twin cities. A special control room will be setup to keep track of any pollutant vehicle entering or roaming in the city. Charminar - Kukatpally will be marked as Red Zone and that all Pollution testing centers will be computerized. The Minister said that the decisions were taken into with reference to the sub-committee being constituted.

He said that a decision on Green Levy will be implemented only after study of systems in Karnataka.
CM monitoring construction works CM monitoring construction works at D Block of Secretariat
Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu monitored the construction works at D Block of the Secretariat. He also checked the quality of flooring and roofing and said that the quality of the works should be standard.

Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the Website of Chief Minister Empowerment for Youth website at a program held at Hyderabad. Over Rs. 130 Crores will be distributed to 8900-odd groups already in effect in the state.


The farmer community in Tirupati came out with a new form of showing their resistance against the Government's power cut politics. They staged a dharna with dried weeds that were a result of the poor power distribution to the farmer community. They demanded the Government to immediately provide power supply.

VEPZ targets Rs. 1500 Crores turnover exports for 02-03
Commissioner of Visakhapatnam Export Processing Zone Mrs. Ratna Prabha said that they have set a target of Rs. 1500 Crore worth exports for the year 2002-03. She said that VEPZ was given powers on certain matters and that this will allow it to help and support newly established industries in the Zone.

Member of Parliament Mr. Umma Reddy Venkateswarulu inaugurated the Mundadugu program at Chellapalle in Krishna district.

Agriculture Workers at Vijayawada staged a dharna for minimum wages.

PCC Spokesman Mr. Paladugula Venkata Rao said that the State Government was intentionally degrading the powers of Zilla and Mandal Parishads. He said that the funds being sent by the Center were used for other Governmental works and that the same were not being distributed.

Guntur Police arrested a person involved in distributing 88 bags of fake seeds which were being transported to Nalgonda.
