Ms. Karanam Uma Devi wins Medak Assembly seat TDP Candidate for the Medak Assembly constituency and wife of former Minister Sri Karanam Ramachandra Rao - Ms. Karanam Uma Devi won the election beating her nearest rival from Congress with a margin of 6000 votes. With use of Electronic voting machines, the results were announced in just 2 hrs time. Good fight in votes was visible between the TDP, Congress and TRS candidates during the first round. PCC President Sri M Satyanarayana Rao said that even though the Congress candidate lost the election, the result was a positive one for the congress since the election has reduced the margin between TDP and Congress votes considerably. Dr K Laxman, Spokesman of BJP said in Hyderabad that the state unit of the Party was happy at the win of Telugu Desam Party candidate in Medak for the Medak Assembly segment.
