CM holds meeting with District Collectors - discusses on Power condition in the state
Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu has held a meet with District Collectors in regard to the recent developments in the state. He said that the Government is considering changes to the Budget allocations. He felt that Power situation in the is in critical position with almost all Power Generation projects are lacing water except the Sri Ram Sagar and that unless the NTPC Project at Visakhapatnam comes back to working condition, it becomes difficult for continuous power in the state. Despite the tight situation at the state monetary positions, he confirmed that the 'Chaduvula Panduga' - Government's ambitious project to attract more children to join in schools will continue.

Farmers in East Godavari tried to be violent when they tried to enter into the Zilla Parishad office when meeting was going on. The farmers demanded for immediate water at least to 400 cubic cm levels for their crop from the Eluru canal. The police tried to restrict the farmers from entering but their efforts failed.

Election Commission announced that the Municipal Elections for Palasa - Kasibugga will be held on August 22, 2002. The counting and announcement of results will be on August 24, 2002.

Inter first year admissions deadline extended till August 5
Board of Intermediate Studies extended the last date for Admissions into first year of Intermediate to August 5, 2002. The Secretary of the Board Mr. B Krupanandam appealed to the parents to make sure that the college has seats as per the board rules and if the college takes more than the allowed admissions, such students may not be allowed to sit in the public examinations.

Student members of the Students Federation of India staged a dharna at the Office of the Commissioner of Backward Classes in Hyderabad in the 6th floor. The Police who entered into the scene restored to Lathi charge and arrested 9 of its leaders.
