Assembly pays homage to Sri B Venkata Ram The State Assembly paid homage to Sri B Venkata Ram who passed away recently. The Assembly praised the services of Sri Venkata Ram and observed 2 minute silence. The session was back after a half an hour break. Neeru - Meeru program a publicity stunt - says Congress The Assembly passed unanimous resolutions on the death of Legislature members who passed away recently. Discussions on the Neeru - Meeru programme were brought during the Afternoon session to the Assembly with the oppositions taking the program as a publicity stunt rather than as a real useful program. The Opposition parties including the BJP and the left parties said that despite completion of phases of the program, not many works were completed. Panchayat Raj Minister Sri P Srinavasam Reddy who was available appealed to the representatives not to make Neeru-Meeru program as a political topic. Among other issue came were brought during the Question and Answer sessions were the issue of Water projects particularly taken up in the Chitoor District. Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu said that all water projects that were promised by him will be taken up after checking up technically and financially feasibilities. CLP Leader Dr Y S Rajasekhar Raddy felt angry at the CM's response that certain programs cannot be approved. CM was however firm and made a bold statement that he would discuss on bringing the Tungabadra River water from Karnataka to Anantapur district. He said that though he spoke with the counterpart of Karnataka, there is no positive response as yet. Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad was selected as the venue for International Chess Championships that are scheduled to begin from October 9. This was announced by the Indian Chess Federation President Mr. N Srinivas. Members of the Federation also met Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu and asked for the support of the State Government. The newly selected board of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) take charge from July 20. Five persons were arrested under POTA in Khammam district.
