16th Janmabhoomi program begins
Chief Minister inaugurates 16th Janmabhoomi program
Chief Minister Mr. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the Janmabhoomi Programme today in Guntur. This 16th Janmabhoomi program is designed specially for the Weaker sections of the society. He also inaugurated the Janmabhoomi program at Kuchipoodi villge in Krishna District. He promised that Kuchipoodi villege will be developed into a tourist location. Police restored to lathi charge in Medak when TDP and CPI supporters started clashes in the Janmabhoomi program.

Janmabhoomi programmes in various districts
Minister Mr. Yenamala Ramakrishnudu and Chikkalaramchandra Rao gave Gas Connections to women under the Deepam Scheme. They also inaugurated a Urban health center and a Reservoir. Minister Mrs. Saraswathi took part in Janmabhoomi programmes in Cuddapah. Minister Mr. Damodara Reddy and Mr. S Devayya took part in various development programmes in Karimnagar. They said that the state government will is taking special steps to solve the problems of the Dalits. Minister for Panchayat Raj, Mr. Pocharam Srinuvasa Reddy took part in the Janmabhoomi programme in Arasapalli in Nizamabad district. He also gave Gas Connections under the Deepam Scheme.

Companies selling BT-variety of Cotton seeds to be dragged to court
Agriculture Minister Mr. Vadde Sobhanadreswara Rao said that the State Government has decided to take action on companies which sell fake or BT-variety of Cotton seeds. He said that anyone involved in such activity will be dragged to the court and that this decision was taken as the Central Government has already banned the sale of such seeds.

3 stage plan for implementation of 10th 5 Year Plan
Vice President of the Planning Commission Mr. K C Panth met with Governor Sri Rangarajan today. He said that some schemes will be converged while some other will be dropped since there are some schemes common to both the Center and the State while transfer of some schemes to the State Governments. He said the Planning Commission is working towards the 2002-07 10th Plan for the country. He said that the Central Government has to allocate more funds to financially backward states in the country. He said that Districts that were backward even tough the state is rich have to be looked after.

TDP and BJP announces list for MCH elections
The first list of TDP and BJP released their list of candidates for the upcoming Hyderabad Municipal Elections. The seats between the two parties will be shared in 55:45 ratio and that BJP candidate will be contesting for the Gaddenaram Mayor seat. The list carried 93 members out of the 100 constituencies. No understanding was reached for the 7 divisions in Himayatnagar constituency.

Lord Swarj Paul visits Hyderabad - Meets Governor of Andhra Pradesh
Lord Swarj Paul said that Pakistan alone should not be blamed for terrorist activities. He said that Kashmir is not alone the terrorist prone state in the state. He said that the Western world is getting confused at the comments made by both the countries. He recalled that Pakistan was not involved during the assassinations of prominent leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi or Rajiv Gandhi. He said that terrorist activities was all round the country including at Assam, Tamil Nadu and the Central India and that the Governments have to take a swift action to see that it is removed from the society. He said, "Kashmiris want independence - Pakistan wants it for itself and India says it is their territory". Lord Swaraj Paul also met Governor Mr. Rangarajan at Raj Bhawan today.

He said that Primary education is free in Briton and that India and Briton have to work hand-in-hand as there its economy has 75% of industries covered by Medium and Small scale industries.

Union Minister Mr. Venkiah Naidu took part in the NIRD Foundation Day held today in Hyderabad. He said that by next year the number of self-financing working groups will be increased to 16 Lakhs.

State Level Sports for the Blind began today in Tirupati on occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Louie Braille. Athletics, Cricket, Kabbadi and other games were held today.

Quick Reaction Team constitued by Hyderabad Police
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Pervaram Ramulu said that the District Police has formed a special Quick Reaction Team which constitutes able police personnel and will be operating in case of any emergency such as the recent attacks on the Parliament etc. The team will be equipped with the latest artillery to fight in the situations. He said that video cameras will be installed at 76 major centers in the twin-cities to monitor traffic moment.

Eastern Distribution Company said that it will be upgrading and modernizing the power line in the Visakhapatnam district at a cost of Rs. 1 Crores. These includes a separate feeder for King George Hospital and solving power problems in the Old Town area.
