AP Tourism signs MoU with Hyderabad Golf Club
Andhra Pradesh Tourism Corporation and Hyderabad Golf Club have signed an agreement for the development of a Golf Course in Hyderabad. The Golf course would come up at a cost of Rs. 15 crores and is expected to be ready by 2004. Minister Talasana Srinuvasa Yadav was present at the program. He said that the works for Taramati project will also begin shortly.

All arrangements for Krishna Mahotsavam completed
Andhra Pradesh Tourism completed all the works for the tomorrow's Krishna Mahotsavam that is organised at the banks of River Krishna. Vijayawada is not attractively decorated and stalls were setup on the sandy banks of the river. Special Cultural programmes were organised and all temples on the shore of the banks were decorated.

Andhra Pradesh Police Officers Association said that Retired Principal Secretary Mr. Nair was making comments on the Police Department only after he did not get DGP Post. The Association questioned on why he did not take action on officers and authorities when he was on duty.

PCC demands enquiry by sitting judge in regard to comments made by Mr. Nair
Pradesh Congress Committee Spokesman Md. Jaani asked the Government to hold an enquiry by a sitting judge in regard to comments made by Mr. Nair. Mr. Jaani reminded that the Congress Party has brought many instances in which the Police Department worked single sided and that they are misutilising their power. Meanwhile, CLP Leader Sri Y S Rajasekahar Reddy wrote a letter to the National Human Rights Council asking it to look into the issue of deaths of farmers in the state.

Govt. welcomes peace plan from PWG
Home Minister Devendar Goud said that the Government welcomes any peace initiative from the Peoples War Group (PWG). He said that the state is having the problem of extrimists for over 30 years and that any steps towards possible solution for the problem is good for the state. He inaugurated the newly built Gannavaram Police Station located 60 kms from Rajahmundry. Speaking at the inauguration, Speaker of Lok Sabha, GMC Balayogi said that a Police Station is a temple and that the people manning the temple has to make sure that its activities are like those in a temple.

Divisional bench accepts case on NIMS's strike
A Divisional bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court accepted a writ petition filed in public interest seeking the State Government to end the stike at the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS).

PG Doctors should work in a Govt. hospital for atleast 5 years
Health Minister Sri N Janardhan Reddy said that the Government will be making it compulsory for a PG Doctor to work in a Government hospital for at least 5 years. He inaugurated the CT Scan facilities and Casualty and Dialysis Theaters and Neurosurgery at the General Hospital at Kurnool.

Naxals of the Peoples War Group damaged the equipment of the C-DOT Telephone exchange at Dachealli and Pulipadu in Gurazala Mandal in Guntur.

PDSU said that the State and Central Governments were safronising the Education system in the country. They staged a program at Ambedkar Bhawan in Guntur today.

The 87th Birth Anniversary of freedom fighter Sri Tankasala Narasimha Rao was held in Hyderabad. As a part of his remembrance, Andhra Pradesh Sarvodaya Mandali felicitated 85 freedom fighters. The Grand daughter of Mahatma Gandhi also took part in the program.

The first council of the Tirupati Municipality met today and took oath. Sri K Shankar Reddy took oath as the Chairman of the council.

The Chairman of ICL and President of Indian Federation of Port and Dock Workers, Mr. Ashok Bhattachorjee said that the International Federation of Trade Unions of Transport Workers will oppose the download of the scrap of steel that arrived from the World Trade Center in New York. He said that the steel is highly polluted and that Visakhapatnam Port has no facility to handle such type of steel. He said that only Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust has the facilities in the West Coast of the country to handle such steel.
